Toro riding mower won't start

The engine cranks ok. the spark appears weak.

Even a weak spark should trigger an explosion in the cylinder. Basic components needed are spark, fuel, air, compression. Are you sure there is fuel getting into the cylinder? Can you smell it or see any on the plug? You mention the engine cranks okay, but does it have compression? A compression tester is only like $15.00 at your local auto parts shop and is a great investment for anyone who likes to tinker. How long has it been since you last started the engine? if it has been more than a few weeks then it is worth your time to pull off the carburetor and give it a quick cleaning. This alone may get it running.

    Best of luck to you!

    Regards,

    Joe

Motor turns when spark plug is out, starter works, gas good, but has plenty of spark, when plug is added it stalls. Why?

If by 'stalls' you mean it wont turn over with the spark plug in, it is common in B&S engines for the valves to go out of adjustment. When this happens it can make it very hard for the engine to turn over and can make it hard for it to crank without assistance. A valve adjustment may fix this. it may also be a weak battery that isn't strong enough, or a bad solenoid that isn't letting enough juice through, or weak connections/bad battery wires.

My little 25'' Toro riding mower has no spark

did you put a little gas on the plug before you put it back on and make sure the spark plug is gagged correctly. And with the plug out and connected to the wire holding it with a tool you should be able to see sparks. If not it could be a faulty wire.

I have a snapper 28 hi vac riding mower that won't

first try and start it with carb cleaner or starting fluid with the air filter out if it fires then its a carb/fuel problem if not it could be a spark problem remove the plug connect hte wire back up and crank the engine over while looking for spark if no spark disconnect the kill switch wires from the side of the engine should be a single wire near the throttle cable if spark with that off the problem is in the wiring or safety switch if still no spark its the coil

My toro 6.5 hp push mower (2010), has no fire to the plug. I have not abused it. i have a small yard and it just gets normal use. Now it won't fire. I first changed the fuel and cleaned the carb...

unhook your wire from the coil that goes to shut off mechanism, and see if you have spark then. the wire may be grounded out, or your coil might have took a ****

Toro riding lawn mower. 12 h/p is hard to start

Hi there, It is most likely that the choke isn't closing fully. The throttle cable will need to be adjusted to cure this. The cable is clamped where it joins the engine. Simply slacken the bolt and move the outer cable out a bit. When you operate the throttle control you should see the choke start to operate near the start position. Make sure that the choke control rod operates to its fullest extent when the control is fully on the start position.
