What cause the Error hardware 03130031-2F49 ?

Problem :
For errors 2618, 2F48, 2F49, 2F50, 2F51, 2F52 randomly occurring please follow the steps below.

Solution :
If the printer has the latest firmware installed (Ver. 1.25 or higher - iPF8300 Series), you only need to do the following:

1. Check if the Status Print or Print INF files indicate which print head experienced the error and replace it.
2. If the specific print head failure cannot be determined, replace both print heads.
NOTE: With the previous low level firmware installed, any printhead damage may have spread to other components. Upgrading to the latest firmware version prevents the other components from being damaged in the future. For the initial failures with the low level firmware, you must replace the other components that would have also failed.

Canon iPF 8300: Hardware Error 2F48

Canon have a Technical Bulletin regarding this error (TP11 3337d.pdf). In my experience it starts with E161-403F/E and if you get past this in Service Mode it cannot detect the paper size (the multi-sensor lights on the carriage do not work). After re-seating the flex into the PCB I got the 2F48 error. I think it is related to poor ink flow at some point.

The bulletin recommends (after updating firmware) you:
-Turn printer off
-Remove both heads and dispose of them (Can carriage EEPROM corrupt new heads? $1000 in the bin?) - bulletin states heads MUST NOT BE REUSED so seems like they mean it.
- Replace Carriage PCB - another cost!
- Turn on in Service Mode - WITHOUT HEADS INSTALLED YET
- Turn off (clears errors)
- Turn on in User Mode and install heads as normal
- Check ink is flowing into heads - if not you may well fry another head so you need to get hold of a Syringe Kit to pull it through manually (don't ask me how!)

The bulletin also then - disgracefully I add - goes on to say that if this doesn't work change the Main PCB as if the $2000 outlay to do so was an arbitrary amount of money to pay to get the clearly mal-designed printer to work again!

Good luck anyone reading this, I'm about to do this myself today on my Canon iPF8300S - but before I hook out the Carriage Relay PCB and heads I'm going to connect a new flex from Main PCB to Carriage PCB and hold it in the air while the printer initializes (chasing it through the machine is a ballache if not required). The crushing of the flex by the chain/against plastic mount is far too common - and a known issue since ipf8000 at least and definitely worth a try if more than one head error occurs.

Canon Hardware Error 03130031-2F50

My printer just gave that code, and Canon fixed it. It has to do with communication between a head (that code say's right head, is what tech said) and the driver board that is on the carriage.
To fix mine, they replaced the carriage and both heads (because if one went bad, it could take out a new one as well).

Canon IPF8000..... i need to override the "ink

Before removing the used print head, be sure to update the printer?s firmware version with the included CD-ROM. An error message will be displayed on the printer?s display when the new print head is installed without updating the version. In this case, re-install the used print head and update the firmware version.

Updating the firmware

1. Turn on the power of the printer. Check that the printer is online.

2. Run the file setup.exe in the FirmUpdate folder in the CD-ROM. [GARO Firmware Update Tool] will be installed.

3. Run [GARO Firmware Update Tool] from Programs in the Start menu.

4. By following the instructions, update the firmware version.

1. Turn on the power of the printer. Check that the printer is online.

2. Select the OS89 folder in the FirmUpdate folder in the CD-ROM, and run [GARO FirmUpdate]. [GARO Firmware Update Tool] will be installed.

3. Run [GARO Firmware Update Tool] from [Applications] - [GARO Firmware Update Tool] folder.

4. By following the instructions, update the firmware version.

1. Turn on the power of the printer. Check that the printer is online.

[GARO Firmware Update Tool] will be installed.

3. Run [GARO Firmware Update Tool] from [Applications] - [GARO Firmware Update Tool] folder.

Precautions when updating the firmware version
- Use [GARO Firmware Update Tool] after checking that the printer is online.
- Do not turn off the power of the printer while firmware data is being transferred.

Canon ipf 8000 print head problems

You need to boot the printer into service mode.

Hold down the roll/source button and the info button while you are powering on the machine.

This should get you booted into the service menu where you can then access the replace printhead function

When you have successfully replaced the printhead, reboot the printer to get out of service mode,

You may also want to check the firmware version of your printer and update it.

Updates can be found on the Canon website
