SOURCE: HTS3450 from Phillips, have video but no audio

I have been quite involved with a sound problem in my HTS3450 (search for the topic "sound in only 3 channels"), and I learned that when you are in the setup menu the speaker volume will be greyed out if there is a disc in the tray...remove the disc, wait for the "disc loading" dialogue to switch to "no disc", the try accessing the setup menu again. Other than that I have no advise if you once had proper function after moving the system. Check out my experiences with the cable connecting the sub to the DVD/receiver in my postings. Good luck. SOURCE: Philips 47PF9441D/37 Control board

Try this company' they reverse manufacture about every brand and do warranty their products:
Jimmy's Parts
BTW, the part number for the board should be ON the board. Since they never seem to stop making changes, it will probably be on a sticker or hand-stamped and will often have a 'Rev.' note with it. You can also do a search at that link for the control board by name with your model number.

I need the subwoofer volume control board Subwoofer control 850k

You're not going to be able to find a part like that unless you can take one from another subwoofer. Computer companies like Dell don't make these speakers. They buy them from other vendors, and treat them as a single part. Under warranty, they replace the entire speaker assembly and send the dud back to the manufacturer. Out of warranty they replace the entire unit and charge you. The bottom line is that no internal parts are available separately.

The only option you have is to replace the control yourself with another of the same value. You'll have to figure out some way to mount it, then wire it to the circuit board pads where the old one connected. The amount of work this involves depends on how concerned you are about cosmetics. On similar units I've simply let a new control dangle out the hole where the old one came through when my client didn't care how it looked. Often the subwoofer is tucked away where you don't see it anyway.

Good luck with the repair, and thanks for using Fixya!

No sound from creative t3030 2.1 speakers

the circuit board and amplifacation supply inside the sub are blow or shorted out.thus preventing any sound. the head phone jack works only because it is a bypass feature supported by the actual computer not the surround sound unit

Speaker cable installation

1.  Check the orange multipin connector for bent or broken pins.
2.  Make you have the subwoofer plugged in to a live power outlet.
3.  Check the fuse on the circuit board inside the subwoofer.
4.  Measure the output of the subwoofer power transformer.  I think I remember it as being in the range of 12-24VAC.  Inspect the rectifier diodes for signs of overload.  measure the dc output of the diodes.  I think I remember 18VDC.
5.  Open the right speaker and verify the on/off switch is working.
6.  New Egg sells a multitude of similar speakers in the $40 to $80 range.

Dell HK 395 Speaker System - Need Circuit Diagram Download

1.  Check the orange multi-pin connector the sufwoofer for a broken or bent pin.  If there is a broken pin you can bypass it by cutting open the cable jacket and tap onto the affected wire with a 6 inch or so jumper, and then attach a jumper to the appropriate point inside the subwoofer.  Pass the subwoofer jumper out of the case (drill a small hole) and connect it to the jumper you added to the cable.

2.  Try wiggling and rapidly rotating the volume control.   There are reports this control may become a problem as it ages.

3. I haven't been able to find a schematic.  My only recourse was to google the output amp and the 2 op-amp packages for data sheets.  They are readily on the internet.  Then I laboriously traced out the stereo paths.  I found that red and black fine tip felt pens were helpful in marking out the signal paths through the circuit boards.
