37F outside. Put the car into drive and could barely accellerate. Then pedal went almost to the floor without me touching it.tried to go into to lower gears to slow it down. standing on brakes, using parking brake for assist. finally put it into neutral to let it slow down. sounded like a jet engine . after a few very long minutes rpms dropped and everything back to normal. I shot a little waterproof silicone spray in behind the pedal but is there something more i can do myself? I was scared sh*#tless.
On the next "above freezing" day, force lubricant through the throttle cable and lube all linkage at the engine end and interior.AND BEFORE STARTING for the next while try depressing the gas pedal and make sure it is releasing fully.
If it ever gets stuck again SHUT IT OFF before you damage the engine with high RPM on a cold engine.

Troopergal is probably right. It does sound like an electrical problem. However with an electrical problem it normally won't always start again right away. Another possibility is you have a clogged fuel filter. This is an easy one to fix. They are small in line placic filters in the fuel line and are easy to replace. They only cost a couple of dollars and are available at any spares shop.
SOURCE: Check Engine light goes on and off
my experience with these isuzu check engine light is that your air gas intake is not being properly regulated what you need to to change out or clean really good your kanooder valve and duflauge sensor. after those two things are taken care of reset your engine light by resetting your engine light relay or fuse.
SOURCE: Car has little acceleration after driving awhile
Hello julieta_barr: My name is Roger and I will help you. If this happens after the engine warms up and the engine runs fine cold. I would look at the catalytic converter as the problem. When the converter is damaged the engine can run great cold. As the engine warms up a bad converter will close off and choke the exhaust down. Top speed will drop off dramatically. I would also replace the fuel filter as this could cause a problem. The converter can be checked but you need the equipment to do it. Should you have any questions please just ask. I will be glad to answer them for you. Please rate the quality of the answer as this is how we know you received the correct answer. Thank You for using FixYa. Roger
check the brake light switch on the brake pedal.

Check your idle air control valve. If not that try your throttle position sensor or your throttle cable may need adjusting.
