SOURCE: how to clean heating element that is coated with

Hi Nancy,
You can use water to boil out the fryer, just be sure that the unit is dry completely before you use it again. Water and oil mixed will cause a boilover. If you go to a restaurant supply shop, you can get a fryer detergent which will help dispel any grease buildup on the burner and the sides as well. Boil the unit for 15 to 20 minutes with the detergent, then rinse and dry thoroughly before next use.
Hope this helps, Please rate and comment, Thank You
Joe

I work at Walmart, I had to use some degreaser to

A very small amount of degreaser spilled in a large commercial fryer is harmless, but if in doubt, discard the grease, thoroughly rinse the vat with clean water, and allow to drain completely before refilling with grease. Recycle used grease. do not pour down a drain or storm sewer.

How can I get old (3yrs) grease and older off of all the workings under the fryer without compromising the electrical system, etc.?

Hi there.

You can clean the grease under your fryer by using a piece of cloth soaked on a grease cutter.
Gently wipe all grease but make sure that the parts will not be soaked with the solution when you do this.
Wipe with dry cloth after cleaning.

Regards.

Breville bdf deep fryer keeps tripping out /turning off have to push reset buttons to get it started again after having to wait 10 mins to reset

That sounds like either a faulty thermal trip, or a faulty overheating fryer.
Is it clean around the element because if not the heat will build up, much like the fur on a kettle and cause the element to overheat.
Hope this helps.

The stack in the rear has carcoal build up, also the lower components are covered with caked on grease

You really need to clean this up before using it... Built up grease will catch fire, and it's fairly easy to clean this. You can buy some deep fryer cleaner at a restaurant equipment type store near you or I can ship some to you, but it's easier to use a product intended for that use... They have liquids or a powder available and you will want to turn your fryer on to boil it out, with your cleaner in it. Any restaurant equipment will clean up alot easier if you have it on low or 200 degrees...including the outside of the unit. For super built on crud, they have sprays also you could spray up inside the flue area, that will eat away that grease build up. You will have to clean that out however, and they also carry brushes if you need one of those to reach it... It will take some elbow grease, and some patience, but we clean up equipment all the time that normal people would look at and throw away. When we're done with it, it looks brand new again... Good luck.. Susan 888-542-5959.

I have a Adcraft DF-6L and it was not cleaned as it should. The elements have a coating on them from the solids from frying. How is the best way to clean these without damaging them? Any help is greatly...

After cleaning fryers for 25 years, I always revert back to EasyOff oven cleaner. Be very careful when you try to scrub or scrape the elements. There are two thermostat cap tubes. If either one is damaged the fryer won't work. The cap tubes have a small charge of gas which expands and contracts to tell the thermostat when to come on and go off. You probably can't get them perfectly clean. Start by putting water in the fryer pan and letting it boil for a few minutes. Pour the water out and if it was really greasy, boil it again. When you have floated most of the grease that will melt away, then spray the elements with the EasyOff, or store brand oven cleaner. Let it stand for 30 minutes and then rewet the element and scrub carefully with a good stiff nylon bristle brush. A steel brush might damage the cap tubes. Rinse completely clean before using the fryer.

Cleaning

From http://www.rivalproducts.com/help.aspx?helpNav=1: How can I clean my fryer? - Unplug from outlet and allow unit to cool. Always turn control to OFF then disconnect plug from wall outlet BEFORE disconnecting BREAK-AWAY CORD. - Clean the outside of the fryer and lid with a damp cloth. CAUTION: Do not use abrasive pads or alcohol to clean the fryer. - Remove basket handle, if one is included. Frying basket can be washed in hot soapy water. - Rinse and towel dry carefully. - Pour out oil and discard properly. - Wipe the inside with paper towels to absorb excess grease. Wash interior of fryer with hot soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly. CAUTION: Never immerse the fryer in water or wash in running water. If you own a fryer with a removable bowl or other removable parts, refer to the Owner?s Guide for your specific fryer to determine which parts can be cleaned in the dishwasher.
