Mysrerious ups and downs

Yesterday I programmed my new car's remote into our Craftsman 1/2 hp garage door opener. All seemed ok. Since then it has closed unexpectedly many times and this morning opened by itself.

What can I do to find the problem?

My owner's manual (for the CRAFTSMAN Model 139.53985D) does not show a sensitity dial. It does have limit and force adjustments. Perhaps the force adjustment is on the margin????

Another site said such a problem is sometimes caused by a dying battery. This morning I found my new Malibu's battery dead. I had left the key in the car in the "accessories" position. I have since recharged the battery and am waiting. . . .

I believe the culprit is the new Chevy's transmitter. I've deprogrammed it. If nothing happens for a day or so, I'll reprogram it. If the problem recurs Chevy will replace the transmitter.

It sounds like the signal coming from your car remote is quite a bit stronger than the signal from the original remots. Many garage door openers have a sensitivity dial. check your owner's manual as you may have one also. Get back and let me know as there are other things to try

I have an old craftsman 1/2 hp door opener. It

You may have a bad wall control. Try disconnecting it from the opener and try. Otherwise it is time for a new model.

Where to buy remote control and reset My garage door opener also

To erase the memory of the opener so that your old remote will no longer work you need to locate the smart/learn button on the rear of the motor unit. Press and hold this button for 6 seconds. No remotes will now work.

To program the new remote when you get it, hold the button down on the remote and then press and immediately release the smart/learn button.

Call any local door opener repair company from the yellow pages and you should be able to buy a remote from them.

Cant get 2 remotes for garage door openers working at same time

You have a remote that has reverted to an earlier technology. The only way out of this is to purchase the same exact model number called for by your opener and go through the programming. You will find the new one will work with one of the old ones. Remove the battery from the one that isn't and drop it in the garbage.

Garage door opened, won't close

If you can press and hold the wall button and the door will go down, you have a photo eye issue. Check the photo eyes at the bottom of the door.
