Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Hey Sorry for your loss, But I don't think you can fix it for cheap this kind of repair will be expensive and I wouldn't count on it either. Your best option is to buy a new one and make a claim Tom

if it worked before and not after i would claim it, also sometimes if you complain to the electric company they will foot the bill on there insurance. power surge can cause all sorts of problems . just my 2 cents.
now this set is also know to have bad convergance ic
check this site out for repairing it.
By manual convergence, if you mean electrostatic convergence, then I'm not sure this is included in the service manual. However, if you join the http://groups.yahoo.com/sonyhdtv/ group, there is a file download called ws500tweaks.doc that documents this (with the usual caveats, like don't get yourself killed, when in doubt hire a pro, etc).
