SOURCE: I have a Kenmore side by side refrigerator freezer

The fan must run otherwise the temp. cant be correctly distributed. If temp. is correct, leave alone. If temp. to cold, turn it down untill correct. Fan will very possibly switch off then.

SOURCE: No cooling after replacing a circulation fan

Whirlpool refrigerators as well as the other brands that fall under the corporation most like at some point within the first five years will stop cooling and freezing, and the sound you here will be either a humming follow by a click or in some cases just the click alone. This is caused by the start device on the compressor. The relay part of it has basically burnt, fell apart inside, however you want to describe and is not passing the power to the compressor to come on. To access this pull the refridgerator out from the wall, and first and foremost unplug it. Once that is done remove the lower panel, sometimes cardboard sometimes metal which is held up by a few quarter inch screws. Place to the side and located the compressor. The box on the side is start device, it will have 2 or 3 wires going to it, most of the time red and white respectively. Also they maybe a black box thats connected to the start device and sits horizontallty. Thats the capacitor. Keep that if your going to do the repair yourself. I recommend doing it because its very easy and will save you alot of money. You can buy this part at www.repairclinic.com or at www.apdepot.com just be sure to have your make and model number handy.

The freezer works fine but the refrigerator will not get cold.

On most new refrigerators there is damper that opens and allows the cold air from the freezer to circulate through the fresh food side.
I have seen this same problem caused by over stuffing either the freezer side and or the fresh foods side. On the sides of the fresh foods section there are normally vents which allow cold air from the freezer side to flow. If these are covered up, the air cannot circulate and without air circulation, the temp rise.

Both freezer side and fresh food side work because air is allowed to circulate around your product. I saw a refrigerator that the bottom half was 70 degrees and top half 38 degrees. The shelf about halfway down was completely blocking airflow. Threw out a bunch of boldly items and bags, rearranged items so air could flow and unit started working properly again.

If the damper is not opening, I have seen them freeze shut. It may have to be thawed.

There is also on some models a recirculation fan that gets turned on to circulate cold air from freezer. If this fan burns out or is blocked, it may need to be replaced.

You can go to searspartsdirect.com with your make and model number and get a complete drawing and parts breakdown for most refrigerators. And more important, you can buy them and have the part typically in two days at your door.
Hope this help!

Kenmore side by side Refrigerator top portion is not getting cold. The freezer is working and the bottom portion of the refrigerator is cold but not the top portion of the refrig,

the refrigerator simply by transferring the cold air from freezer via circulation fan the temp controls tells the fan to circulate cold air until the thermostat is satisfied I would check to see if the fan is blowing on most models I have seen its located in the left rear wall closest to the freezer above the top shelf

My ice cube maker isn't making cubes, but I still get water

hello,

In a case like that usually the problem is going to be a cooling issue, is the fresh food and freezer section both cold? it obviously takes water and freezing tempatures to make ice.

2 things to check are

1) the condenser coil under the grill below door or on back depending on model is clogged with dust and needs to be cleaned

2) the fan in the freezer isn't running circulating air into ff section and directly onto icemaker

Good luck, i hope this helps

Will freezer side work if frig side is out

The freezer will appear to still work for awhile after the fresh food side fail to maintain a cool temp, you will need to remove the back in the freezer section and see if the fan motor is turning, if the fan motor is not turning you willl need to replace the fan motor and this will correct the problem and allow cool air to circulate to the fresh food section and cool the fresh food side of the refrigerator

Not cooling

You will need to check the fan motor inside the freezer section, remover the cover located in the back of the freezer section, if the fan is not turning you will have to replace this fan motor, this allows the air to circulate and cools the refrigerator.

Ice melted and fridge not cold enough kenmore 363.50622000

Several things possible - fan in freezer side not running, defrost thermostat not working, if fan runs and cuts off & on, then the defrost heater strip could be out, but check the defrost timer under fridge; not cycling, you can manually turn to see if fan cuts off and on. If you have "ice shelf" in coils on freezer side then no air circulates in freezer and over into refrigerator side.

My kenmore bottom freezer refrigerator keeps icing up how do i defrost it? model # 596.7182101

Sounds like the circulating fan is wearing out, this problem is very hard to diagnose because the fan still spins but not fast enough to circulate the chilled air thru the freezer and refrigerator. The minimum cost for labor and material is around $300.00

Kenmore side by side refrigerator model 106.56532400

Hi,
Thanks for taking this question.
Kenmore 22 cft side by side does not have air circulation. Freezer is cold at the bottom (ranges 5-45 deg from bottom to top). Refrigerator section is 30- 60 deg from bottom to top. Thermostat is good; compressor is working; no ice deposit on the evaporator coils; condenser coils have been cleaned; defrost heater is working. I do not feel the air draft I used to notice whenever opened refrigerator door. Is it possible that the air recirculation fan not operating. Location of this fan in the refrigerator? Regards, Prem
