You can buy a replacement at a Home Depot or other builder supply It is held on with screws on the bottom before you slide the rubber on.

SOURCE: garage door won't open all the way

Remove the cover and check the drive gear. It is a white nylon gear just in front of the motor. It may be stripped. You can increase the up and down force adjustment about 1/4 turn and try. These controls are on the back of the motor unit near where all those white wires go.

During the cold weather all four of my doors "freeze" up to the point that I can't open the doors with either the key or the key fob. The key turns, but it won't unlock any of the doors.

you have too much humidity in the cab. there are drain plugs on the floor under the carpet, open them to let the water out. find a heated garage, use a shop vacuum to dry out the carpets if they are very wet and use either fans with the doors open, and/or a dehumidifier over night to get it all out. you might need up to 24 hours to do this but it will solve half of you problem.
next, rub some white grease on the rubbers around the doors, that will prevent them from freezing and breaking which will leave the truck very hard to heat.
that should solve the humidity but if you have coolant loss inside the cab, you will have to solve that problem first.
also check from where the water is coming from. if it's because of the snow, buy some "pants savers " basically, rubber mats to put on the floor so you can drain the water when the heat melts the snow.
Enjoy !

Craftsman Garage Door Opener Problems Going Down

It reversal of the door with the flashing lights is a normal function. It means that the door either didn't see the eye at the door bottom, or the force to close the door was to great. Both of these make the door reverse and go back up.
Just 2 months ago my spring broke. I had a guy out to replace and he found that the drive gear was almost broke off. I had tightened up the chain a month or two before this because it was sagging down far, and had noticed that it was sagging again when the spring broke.
So I had the gear replaced.
I'm guessing you have a similar problem. The drive gear is almost broke and the force to get the door down is too much so it reverses.
Gear cost was $119, so it was about 1/2 price of new opener.
But now with new spring and gear it's running quiter and slicker than I can ever remember it before.
Good luck!

Do I need to replace everything, if I buy a new garage door open.

My 15 year old system broke down due to a worn screw drive. While parts like this can be replaced, it takes a bit of guts to work inside the motor, and the circuit board. I chose to buy a new unit. New units come with all the parts ... so you don't really save much, Depending on how old the system is, the old accessories may or may not work. Even though my old 1/2 H.P. motor was a chain drive, when I bought a new screw drive the mounting parts on the ceiling and on the wall above the door were compatable. So while you get the new parts in the box, you can use the old parts if it saves you time. I was not able to save the electic eye components as the number of wire leads was slightly different in the new model. It took me and my son about 2 hours to get the old one down and the new on up. Hope that helps. (by the way, the new chain drive is quicker and quieter)
