If you're saying that the unit is going into PROTECT mode when you turn up the volume, check to see if you have all the speakers hooked up correctly, no strands of wire between the + and - terminals. Make sure that you're using speakers rated at 4 - 8 ohms. If all that is correct, you may have an amplifier bad. For more information, please visit my website at audioserviceclinic.com. Thank you.

Hello ! I have a Sony DAV-DZ640K Home Theater System, the problem is that I can increase and decrease sound levels for individual speakers, like i am able to increase and decrease surround (back) speakers...

Sound distribution varies according to speaker configuration. You have to select speaker size and placement and a number of other characteristics to get results. A review of the setup instructions in accordance with the physical size of the speakers you are using and nominal impedance values may help.

SYSTEM SHOWS ERROR CODE PROT AND SHUTS DOWN

Check the impedance (resistance) on all the speakers and the speaker wires themselves.
Power up the unit with no speakers or inputs attached at minimum volume and see if it still goes into protection mode.
Most speakers should measure between 4 and 8 ohms for most systems when disconnected from the receiver.
If the unit says PROT even with no inputs at minimum volume with the speakers detached, then there's a problem with the amplifier itself, probably in the output section.

Not all the speakers working

Open your audio control panel and set it to 5.1 surrond sound. Not all speakers will work unless a dolby surrond sound signal is being sent out. There will be a pseudo surrond setting which will emulate the 5.1 for you in the audio control panel

I have surrond sound speakers thats loud but wend

I had an issue like that with one of my dell desktops too. The speakers were very quiet. I turned up the volume on the speakers, turned up the volume in windows. Unisntalled and Reinstalled audio drivers, I eventually assumed that the speakers were just junk. After buying a soundcard (I was originally using onboard sound), I discovered that the speakers were much louder through the soundcard than through the onboard audio.

When i turn on my Samsung HT-C550 IT showing PROT and DVD turn off. What this is mean PROT?

PROT means that the AMP is protecting itself from damage due to bad or incorrect wiring or damaged and or incorrect speakers. Check your wiring and speakers.
If you find no problem then, DISCONNECT YOUR SYSTEM FROM THE POWER, disconnect your speaker wires...all of them, then reconnect the power ONLY, turn on the system and see if it still says PROT. If it does then your amp is damaged.

How do I adjust each speakers volume?

You could start with the manual which is available at retrevo.com for free.

Speaker settings are primary to the quality and effects you hear. Surround modes depend on them.

The factory defaults assume you're in the center of a perfect circle of speakers (page 21). You need to adjust the delays of the Center and Surrounds to delay them so their sound arrives at the same time as the main speakers.

Page 27 deals specifically with relative speaker levels. You want to have the subjective sound level at your primary listening position be the same from all speakers with the test tone. I would recommend that you figure out which one(s) are the loudest at 0dB and adjust the rest to it(them).
