My dell precision 390 keeps freezing

Please restart the computer and while it is booting enter into safe mode by pressing f8 repeatedly. It will eventually it will ask you to enter safe mode. Enter safe mode option(not with networking or anything else) log back in. See if the computer freezes at this point. If it does not freeze after being on for an extended period it is more then likely a bad windows install or a virus. If it does the same thing we could be talking hard ware issues.

I have a brand new PB desktop pc - only 3 days old - when I open it up it works fine but once I have gone into a programme and closed it the desktop freezes - I can open other programmes from the start...

If only 3 days old, get in touch with the shop you got it from, or the support line.
You dont want to be messing about with system restore/recovery on a brand new PC

Freezes up

this could be caused by a number of things for you to check. maintanence is a key to keeping your computer running. keep your antivirus, antispyware up to date. keep your pc from overheating by taking a spray can of air to it (mind static electricity; after you unplug all wires from the pc and take the case off, touch the powersupply for 10 seconds to balance your electricity with the pc's so you don't fry anything.) hope this helps.

I would check the Ram and CPU. If you can swap the ram you have with good ram, or if you have more than one stick of ram in there take one out at a time to see if thats the problem. Next go into bios and check the CPU temperature after you have been running your computer for a while. The problem with diagnosing this problem is how much time in between freezes. 18 times in 6 months makes it hard to diagnose, because you won't know if you fixed the problem unless it freezes again after you changed something, and even if it does freeze again it could be because of an entirely different problem.

Computer Freeze

Firsly i would of asked what exactly the repairer did to it to solve the problem, and then ask for a refund as it is no better. But we can try and solve it here, by looking for the cause next time it freezes, go to control panel>administrative tools>event viewer, then look at 'application' on the left column and click on it and on the right a list of applications that have been run will list, look for any red 'x' and double click on that line and the problem will show and send yot to microsoft for a possible solution. look also on the 'system' again in the left panel and again look for red x's, but ignore any warning(!) marks. It may also be a graphics driver, so update you graphics driver or even try an older one from the card manufacturer web site. Another common freezing problem can be down to overheating, so take the side of the pc off and check there are no dust building on the fans and that there are no cables obstructing the air flow, leave the side off the pc whilst using and see if it still freezes. Also lastly, usb wireless network cards have been known to be a cause for freezing because of poor drivers, so if you have one try dissabling the software programme that runs your network card and enable WZC, which is Windows Zero Configuration, as this is more stable.

Firstly i would suggest unindtalling the programme and installing again. To give a clue as to what the problem is, go to Control Panel>Performance & Maintanence>Administrative Tools>Event Viewer. On the left hand side, look down the list to Applcations and click on it; and look at the dates when you ran the programme to give a clue as to the fault.

Run-time error 424 object require on my computer

This probably applies to a corrupt programme trying to run. Have you removed a virus or any spyware, as this may now be trying to run, check what is starting up when you boot up. Click Start>Run, then type in 'msconfig' (without quotes), click Start Up tab and look to see if you recognise any programmes there that your recently removed, or looks suspicious, athough leave alone anything that says Software/Microsoft in the right hand column. If you untick a programme at a time and reboot so as to see if it stops, but remember to put a tick back in for the programmees that make no difference. Hope this cures, because it's something silly that's causing it.
