Question about Kenmore 84152 Electric Dryer
Sears model C1108470290 electric clothes dryer works fine, but has one small quirk. Every once in a while, the timer will run backwards after it has been set, and the push to start button has been pressed.
There is a small 3-1/2" X 3-1/2" printed circuit board located in the console that has been changed, but has not cured the problem.

The motor in the dryer timer assembly has a ratchet like mechanism made of plastic that forces it to start running the correct direction. It is worn out and the only solution is a replacement motor for the timer (if you can actually find one) or a new timer assembly. Since AC current is alternating and has no polarity, it may or may not start running in the correct direction without this ratchet mechanism. This is why it only runs backwards sometimes. It's like rolling dice.

Probablyl the timer motor. Synchonosous motors that run these timers have a internal part that insure they always start the same direction.
