Dryer wont start

After having a problem with the wall recepticle, which was replaced, the dryer wont start. I have power going to the dryer, I've checked the relays on the element canister(they are closed). I'm not sure where the thermal fuse is. Dryer is a Whirlpool Gold GEQ9800PW1.

My dryer would not run when I pulled the knob to start. I took the power cord out of the wall outlet. When I replace the cord into the outlet and pulled the knob the outlet sparked.

you most likely have a loose wire inside that wall outlet. use an extension cord to plug your dryer into another outlet that you know works properly and see it your dryer will work on that power source. If it does, just replace the receptacle in that wall outlet. If the dryer still wont run, then you know you have a problem with the dryer itself. If that is the case get back and I can talk you through solving that problem also.

Kenmore dryer stock no. 69812 electric

Many times it is not a problem with the dryer itself. Just as in automotive and housing, when no one thing can be pinned down, look for the simplest and least expensive fix first. This would include a look at the wall plug and the power cable.. Ensure the power is off first, then unplug the unit from the wall. Check first the 220 power recepticle, then inspect the cable and all connections for signs of blackening or burnouts. Repair/replace all blackened or burned wires and cables as needed. Often times, even a dirty connection will not allow electricity to flow.

Kenmore Elite 7.0 HE4 lights flash, won't start

Hi! debby1114 and sydver
I can imagine why several people are have similar problem, lets start with the basics and check the voltage at the wall recepticle. If this is the HE4 units made by Whirlpool for Kenmore, the first three digits of the model number could be 110. Let me know if you have had the power at the wall checked, and the breaker. This looks like a power problem to me.

Four prong plug to three prong plug

Is the receptacle in the wall a four prong or three prong. You will have to match the cord on the dryer to the wall recepticle. If the wall is four prong the dryer cord has to be a four prong. The green wire with the yellow line, that is on the end of the dryer cord, is a cabinet ground and should be attached to the cabinet of the dryer and making good contact. The other three wires on the end of the dyrer cord attach to the terminal block.
