My router is not sending the wi-fi signal, i already reset it more than 10x and unplugged it and unplugged my modem , restart or turn off my computer i did the whole run> ipconfig ****, still nothing...

Got any other "wireless" device that you can try, such an iPod Touch, to try to pickup a signal from your router?

Does your laptop have a switch or slider or FN-key-plus-some-Function-Key-1-thru-12 to disable/enable the laptop's wireless adapter?

If you take your laptop to another location with "free WiFi", such as MacDonalds or Starbucks, can you pickup their wireless network? If not, then the problem is _NOT_ your D-Link router.

If you use your desktop to connect to the web-server "inside" the router, does the wireless transmitter on the D-Link show as "disabled" or "enabled" ?

My ipad keeps stating that Safari cannot open a file because it is not connected to the internet. Please advise me how i can keep apple safari connected to the internet. Bill Stewart

Bill,

The wifi router may be a little distance from where you are using the iPad. If the signal is weak then the iPad goes off and gives that error. You must make sure that you are getting a good wifi signal to ensure that the device is kept connected. I hope you have configured it to connect to the wifi router automatically. When you boot up it should show the wifi icon of a dot with some quarter circles trying to cover it on top. Atleast two of these quarter circles is a good signal.

I have a D link 615 wireless router andand three dwa 130 network adapters. I cannot get the remote computers to work. They did work previously with an earlier system. I have called tech support but...

Hi! Ok, for first, you have to buy some good wifi antenna and position it so does they can see each other. Connect it with your adapter on each PC.
One PC should have one wifi adapter + one RG58 cable to the antenna and one wifi antenna. on teh router side it should be the same think.
Without a good signal you can not have a network because the week signal quality and the package are missing and the computer system will drop the communication and the result is no network.

You must login to the router and setup the wireless. Make sure you turn the WIFI broadcast on (enable it) so you can actually have wifi signal.

How do i make a password on my wifi conection..my router is linksys BEFW11S4 v.2

First, your router is old, go pickup a new one that supports the G standard, don't worry it will fall back to B standard or better yet get an N standard router. To setup wireless security directly connect a pc via cat5 data cable to one of the switch ports on the router (not the wan) and login to the web innerface, click the wireless tab, now look for the security or encrypted options. Most routers support WPA-2 encryption where you enter a phrase of 2 or 3 words if your router only supports web encryption go buy a new router. Save it, then go to your pc, disconnect, remove the wifi ssid from your managed wireless list refresh and search for the ssid of your wireless signal (name), now connect and the router should challenge you for your WPA pass phrase you setup in the router. Now your wifi ssid is secure and all connections will require the passphrase.

Router is too far away to hook up

There are a few things you can try to extend your wifi signal.
If the antenna of the router is removable, then you might want to look at antennas with a higher gain, keep in mind they must have the same type of connector as your router. If your antenna is not removable, or this doesn't get you the range you need, then you may want to look into a wireless repeater, this you need to just place at the edge of where your wifi connection drops off, and it will extend the signal by rebroadcasting it.

Cheers!

Is my internal wifi card an antique?

It is also possible that you have set a security connection on your computer and the new router is not set to the same security settings. If they don't match, you will not connect...nor will anyone trying to 'steal' your signal.

How do I receive the signal with another computer?

Hi, I have given ya a link that will explain all... http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/setup/wireless.mspx www.microsoft.com/athome/moredone/wirelesssetup.mspx Basically you give the Wifi Router an SSID (Unique name, say, AlrenaWiFi... whatever ya like though) Then on the "Remote" if it isn't already, you activate, "Enable" the WiFi adapter... and when enabled, the adapter then "Detects" the (any) wifi signals, you are asked if you want to "Connect" choose YOUR wifi SSID (Name) click connect and you will Be done. Now, thats for an unsecured network, for a "Secure" network, one simply has to assign a "WEP Key" to each "end" as an extra step. This is all explained in the tutorials.
