Epson R1800 prints. How 'lightfast' are they?

  • limbolo May 14, 2009

    Hello Mayor,

    Thanks,
Do you happen to know if the R1800 uses the same pigment inks as Epson's much bigger 'Fine Art' printers?

    limbolo.

Not easy to tell. Epson claims a 100 years for some ink types under certain conditions. Nobody would be able to live for such a long time. Some researchers SIMULATE to get the aging process faster but I guess we have to leave Epson's claim a few generations after us to deliver the verdict. For now the jury just must wait. I have some prints done 8 years and counting.

Epson R1800 On Print Preview of a photograph

I print with the R1800 as well as the 24" 7880 in my studio. Whenever the "preview" shows less than the whole image I intend to print it is generally either the orientation (portrait/landscpe) is set incorrectly or the Paper size selected is incorrect for the size of the print.

Hope this helps

My epson R1800 printer sometimes ejects the paper to soon

I solved this problem by wedging a piece of cardboard in the slot next to the on-off switch. This stop the printer from cycling during the printing due to vibrations.

MacBook Pro Epson Print Driver Dilemma

your problem is about profiles. The gutenprint is the only way to print from intel to r1800, but this driver don't use the same ICC profiles. You have to use one of three solutions below:
1 the best, you have a profile calibrating device, you make a profile of your couple ink-paper and you convert your document into this ICC profile.
2 you convert your picture into your software in one of the Epson generic profiles (hey probably still are on your computer) and you print whithout color managment
3 (awful) you anticipate the color distorsion and you tune your picture to be bad on the screen but pretty good on paper.

Epson R1800 pauses during printing

If you give to the printer a big file to print, you will overfill the buffer. So it will make a stop to refill, and during this pause the ink become dry on limit. The r1800 is A3 printer 300dpi, so a 50MB file is enough to plain quality.
Try to put your file in 8 bit mode, flatten it and put it to the print size in 300dpi.

Epson R1800 and Imac intel

Not sure about this as Mac's are not my bag. Try removing the driver and software you installed. reboot your PC and make sure the printer has gone from the list. Reistall the latest driver you downloaded from Epson and try it again.
