Re: disc tray on my playstation2 console

Hi KG45ZY,

I am guessing that you are running  a PS2 Blue Disc Game.  Blue colored discs tend to run faster than Silver or gold.  Accepted method for cutting the hum down  is to put a piece of Tape on the label side of the disc. jkeep trying that until the disc gets a good balance.  I just put up with the Hum and do not invest a lot of time in trying to get the hum out.  Thats the solution though, your Blue Disc is unbalanced.

The xbox is on with the green light and everything seems to be working, until you put a disk into the tray and it says reading then open tray, it makes no noise as though it is not spinning

Inspect and clean your disc Take a close look at the bottom side of your game, movie, or music disc (the side without a label or image). Are there scratches? Excessive scratches or smudges can prevent your console from reading the disc. Clean your disc Hold the disc by the edges without touching the top or bottom surfaces. Using a soft, clean, slightly damp cloth, lightly wipe from the center of the disc outward.

· Note Use ONLY water to clean the disc.

· Once the disc is clean, load the disc into your console and see if the disc plays.

Xbox 360 will not read games, dvds, or cds. Disc drive seems to spin, or make some kind of noise for less than a half a second, then stops, and presents an "open tray" message no matter what is in the...

Yes, your eye is shot. I doubt since it's making those noises that a simple clean will put it back to new. You'll either have to have them repair it or buy a new xbox all together. Wish I had a better reply for you but yeah.... once those eyes wear out, it's it.

Every time i turn it on it will make a grinding noise ant it wont stop

If the grinding noise occurs while you have a disc inside then it could be the len rubbing against the Cd. This problem normally happens in Slim Line editions of playstation2's. If the disc is blue coated, the playstation2's lens finds it hard to read the disc. Resulting in the lens moving closer to the disc. This is avoidable, try standing up your playstation. Or avoiding Blue coated disc.
