When a disc is inserted the unit reads the disc. However if dust or dirt has got onto the lens of the reader then it can't see the disc and says no disc!
Following the cleaning guide for lens cleaning in the user manual or just get a lens cleaning disc. If that doesn't work then the lens might be damaged or there is another fault on the drive.
open up the top of your machine where you put your disc, there will be a small rectangular piece of glass on the 'floor' of that opening, that your barcode reader. If you can't see it look at the barcodes on your coffee discs and 'pretend' to put in the disc wherever the barcode meets the 'floor' is where the barcode scanner is. just wipe with a damp cloth and dry. job done
Purchase a CD player cleansing disc which should clean the eye reader in your player- The cleansing disc comes with an alcohol wipe that that you apply before inserting the eye reader cleansing disc- Good Luck!
I think that your problem isnt that the discs need cleaning but infact the disc reader or the lens needs to be cleaned. try looking at best buy for a lens cleaning kit they are pretty cheap and easy to use hope this helped and good luck.
i think the concept of this type of machine is one actual disc reader (the eye needing the cleaning) and a carousel that carries discs to the play position. So a cd lens cleaner can be placed in any of the carousel parts and do as much good as in another, once should be enough.
Try cleaning the lens with a CD/DVD cleaning kit that you can buy at a local eletronics store. If you have tech skills, open the player up and clean the glass eye reader lens with some rubbing alcohol using a Q-tip. Make sure the DVD you are using is not too scratched up. If it still don't work after you cleaned it and tried different disc then replace the optical reader drive
Clean smudges off of disc with microfiber cloth and a little water. Disc will not play if heavily scratched. Insert different discs isolate the problem. If other discs won't play, then you optical disc reader is fu.k.d up.
Get you a CD disc cleaning kit from one of those box stores and try cleaning the optical reader that way. If that don't work, then you need IT to open this puppy up and replace the optical drive. Do it yourself if your IT. Order the optical drive for cheap on e-bay.
It sounds like the disc reader is dirty, it's the little clear circle right under where a disc would go, closest to the back of the unit.
To clean, open disc cover, locate the disc reader, use a dry soft towel or some toilet paper and gently wipe it off, sometimes even a little dust can cause a problem. This should do the trick. If it doesn't, then either the disc is scratched or the Game Cube has something wrong with it.
hope this helps!
There are a few different cleaning kits out there these days for DVD or CD players. I would recommend one that actually has fibers on it so the it brushes the lense of the DVD player. These cleaning kits can be found just about anywhere. Have you tried to clean it with anything?
