Question about Microsoft LifeCam VX-6000 (68C-00001) Webcam

2 Answers

Hi, my Microsoft LifeCam VX-6000 is not seen by Skype. I'm getting always the message: "no camera present" or "connected" or "found". I went the whole 9 yards and tried every solution I could find on the web: downloaded camera driver for camera and microchip, unistall and re-install camera, re-install Skype etc.. I still don't have image (no one can see me), but my audio work fine, so at least I can talk. It's very, very annoying!!!! Could you give a tip how to fix this problem. P.S.: one more hint which might help: I have this problem since I upgraded from XP Home Editon to XP Professional. The new OS was installed on the top of the existing one. I read somewhere on the net that this occurs when you install XP Pro over XP Home, but no solution was offered there. Please help.

Thanks for the fast reply, but my driver was already updated from Microsoft update and download site and still don't work. My OS is NOT Vista, but XP Professional and upon installation the XP Home Edition was deleted, so I'm not sure that now I have 2 versions on my computer.

I would suggest you to keep only one version of vista and the kind of problem you stated is very ovious because there is a driver conflict ...........for good performance go to device manager and update the driver also for generic driver go to www.download.com

    1. Uninstall *ALL* Microsoft Live software from your computer.

    2. Restart your computer.

    3. Reinstall Windows Live Messenger and see if the problem persists.

If the problem does persist, we may need to investigate if antivirus is causing the problem.

Hi,
First of all make sure your computer is free from virus..
You can download free stand alone anti virus tool like kaspersky or trend to scan pc.
Also the next step is to check the internet connection.
At times poor bandwidth result with these problems

Yahoo messenger with microsoft life cam VX 6000

Normal 0 Did you install the software with the camera connected to the computer? Disconnect the camera from the USB port and reinstall the software. When the program asks you to connect the camera, do so, and it should work. Hope this is of some help. Bud

Below is info for setting up Audio & Video to chat on line after you install , either Skype or a messenger program.

Lifecam VX-6000

Uninstall the Microsoft LifeCam and disconnect your camera.
Go to this site: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/435/241&cl=us,en

Download the software for the QuickCam Ultra Vision 5. Save to your hard disk and then run the program.
Reinstall the LifeCam software and then plug in the camera. LifeCam will use the Logitech Drivers and your camera should work fine.

Lifecam VX 6000 and Skype

On the one I just fixed, Skype would not even see the LifeCam. I had to go into the registry and delete the calls for the Lifecam in the run section. Open Regedit, back it up first then delete any referecne to Lifecam in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\current version\run and also HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Current Version\Run

Be careful to ONLY delete the referecnes to Lifecam. If you are nto familiar with the registry you can seriously mess up your file system.
