A bit tricky, but you can remove the front cover. There should be a screw on the bottom which locks the unit in place. Remove the screw and slide the unit out of the wall. (power off of course). You can then check if any wasp or insect may have set up house on the fanblade, which would cause it to be unbalanced and noisy. Clean and refit.

Ac unit runs, inside blower shuts off after 2 mins, compressor continues to run, t-stat still calling for cool

My central AC unit decided to stop on the hottest day of the year. It would start and run normally for a few minutes and then the blower would shut off. After checking the breakers, thermostat and overflow shut off (did not have one) I saw something about a blower motor capacitor. This was easy to get to and replace and my last hope before waiting for someone to come fix it. The capacitor cost $4.04 with tax and had my AC working again. Needless to say I was beyond happy. I hope this can help others with a similar problem.

Was running ac. Now blower won't come on for ac or heat. Error code 24 is displayed. Please advise. Would a blown fuse at ac unit cause blower to stop all together

It could be your capacitor. I had a fan capacitor go out on one of my 3 units last year and it cost close to $300 for an AC company to come out and fix it. I watched them fix it and it's something that you can do yourself if you know what you're doing and are careful to hook it up right. I have three AC units and another capacitor went out this year and I found a kit with detailed instructions with pictures and phone support at hvacrepairkits.com. It saved me over $200 on the capacitor replacement.

MODEL # FAH124N2T BLOWS WARM AIR. SOMEONE TOLD ME THIS TYPE OF THUR THE WALL UNIT CANNOT BE REFILLED WITH FREON. TRUE?

Part of it's true. Freon is no longer approved by the EPA. R134a is the only refrigerant gas that is now approved in place of Freon. It will also require removing the chassis from the outer housing to capture any freon that's left in the system, as well as recharging the high and low sides of the compressor. It does require specialized equipment to do it properly. It's best left to the professionals.

Hope this helped answer your question, satisfactorily.

20 year old Rheem 90 plus 120k btu furnace blower runs contantly. Furnace and AC work fine (start and stop according to thermostat setting). What is problem? How fix?

Check to see if your unit has a heat sequencer. This is usually the problem with most furnaces. If it is bad, it will make the fan blower run all of the time. If you are not a electrican, you may want to get a electricin to look at it.

For a/c unit, is there an adapter available or do I need a new plug cord

Actually you should buy and install an AC wall outlet. An AC uses more amperage than most any other appliance due to the fact it has 2 motors the compressor and the blower / fan motor. An AC wall plug has larger terminals so that the plug does not ever heat. Changing the cord to a different and smaller terminal plug is a bad choice due to the danger of overheating the wall outlet terminals. You can buy the AC horizontal terminal outlets at any hardware store. Unless you have a 110V AC unit you will also have to run a 220V #10 Romex (3 wire) with ground to the outlet to be in code.. An AC unit 1 HP (10,000) BTU or larger requires over 15 Amps for start up. Those that are 20,000 BTU or larger obviously require more than 15 amps as a power source.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Maytag M6Y18F7A Air Conditioner troble light turns off

you have to open the unit up or atleast see if the fan is failing. The blower motor is usually a double shaft and cool the compressor and also blows the air across the evaporator. Look for the air to stop blowing then the compressor to shake from overheating.

the blower motor has shorted out and its taking the motherboard with it. I hate to say this but I think you already know its time for a new unit

Inside blower not starting every time

You have a voltage bleed somewhere or a short, whatever you want to call it. Do you have a control board on this unit where the relays are integrated into it or do you have the old type where the relay is separate? Anyway, you need to take a meter and take voltage readings to the motor when it's acting up and when it's running right. I have had the same problem with a Goodman unit before and it turned out to be the tstat! What I would do is remove the cover off the tstat and take a small jumper wire and touch the r terminal to the y terminal. If the motor starts right up, you know it's the tstat. If you have the same problem, then the only thing it can be is a low voltage short to the unit from the tstat, bad control board if you have one, or a bad relay. But if the unit is working fine in heat, it's probably not the relay. I hope this helps.

On ac side blower not starting, all the time and system freezes

Most motors have a thermal cut out that is internal. If the motor overheats, it will shut down. If the unit is freezing up, that would indicate that there isn't enough airflow over the coils or the unit is low on refrigerant. I had a unit that did this same exact thing and after replacing the blower motor and a sequencer, in the end it was the t-stat. You are describing the same exact symptoms and every time I would go out, the unit would work fine. I would suggest replacing the t-stat and then watch the unit. But make sure that the coils are clean and you are not restricting airflow over the coils. Hopefully one of the techs actually looked at the coils to determine if they needed to be pulled and cleaned. Hopefully this answers your question.

Carrier XHD183D Through-the-Wall Heater/AC runs constantly

YOU COULD EITHER HAVE A THERMOSTAT PROBLEM OR FAN CONTROL PROBLEM.TURN THE POWER OFF AT THE FURNACE AND TAKE THE THERMOSTAT OFF THE WALL.MAKE SURE YOU MARK THE WIRES SO YOU KNOW HOW TO HOOK IT BACK UP AGAIN.RESTORE POWER TO THE FURNACE.TOUCH THE WIRES THAT WERE HOOKED TO THE R & G TERMINALS ON THE T-STAT TOGETHER AND HOLD THEM THERE.OBSERVE THE OPERATION. WHEN YOU TAKE THEM APART DOES THE BLOWER STOP?TRY IT A FEW TIMES. IF IT CONTINUES TO START AND STOP YOU GOT A BAD T-STAT.JEFF
