If its a valid LEGITIMATE key then again Microsoft are your best option to deal with this issue.

Try booting to SAFE mode first and see if you can get into windows that way. Once there then use REGEDIT to change the registry key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Change its value to zero "0" and then close regedit and re-boot the computer.

If that works I would suggest a strong antiviral scan AND anti spy-ware scan.

Also check and make sure the BIOS has not been tweaked with regards to memory settings as that can affect some installations.

Hope this gives you the information you need

How is that an answer? It doesn't ask for a key. It just keeps looping.

How do i unlock a sony vaio notebook. I forgot my password and dont have those old documents!!

This can be usually done by a Windows Password Tool. However, if you have already activated the Administrator on the PC (Any Brand) with Windows 7. You can try the following steps.

Generally, the logon does not have the administration account listed. So one may want to go restart the machine to the Command Prompt to enable the Command Prompt.

Restart the Machine --> Tap F8 (Advanced boot options) --> Go Save Mode With Command Prompt --> Command Prompt Window appears. Type :
1: net user Administrator /active: yes
2: shutdown -r

This would restart the machine and the Windows Logon will have the Administration account. You can login to the Administration Account and then change the password on the other account.

Also, If you do not have the the admin account activated, then you may want to get windows key from http://www.lostwindowspassword.com/windows-password-recovery.htm

(This is a paid software).

You may get several free software's online as well.

Thanks,

You can still logon to your Windows, and access everything you normally can.
A Windows XP that has failed Product Activation will lock its users out of the operating system. Windows will simply refuse to login, and will redirect users time and again to the activation option. But is there a way to still access your content via the operating system? Launching Windows in Safe Mode will permit access to the basic functionality of the operating system. But there is another way.

From the Login screen of an expired copy of Windows, click login. You will be prompted with an error message that will inform you of the expired status of your operating system and that will feature an option to activate the product. Clicking YES will make a ?Let's Activate Windows? window appear.

Now press the Windows Key + the U key to bring up the Narrator dialog box. The Narrator dialog box features a computer icon in the top left corner. Further clicking it will display a drop down menu. Navigate to the bottom option that reads ?About Narrator.? This action will open another box ?About Narrator?. No big surprise here; in fact, this is what we wanted all along.

In the ?About Narrator? windows you can see a link pointing to the Microsoft Website. Clicking the link will launch Internet Explorer. And there you go. As in Windows XP there is an intimate connection between Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer, via the browser window you can navigate on your drives. You just have to know the address, such as ?C:documents and settingsusernameStart MenuPrograms.? A big thanks goes to The Tomorrow Times for making details available.

This technique has been presented here for informative purposes only. Softpedia does not, in any way, support piracy. In fact, this article was written on an activated and genuine copy of Windows XP.

I try to reinstall my windows xp and a screen came on that reads log on to windows Users name:Administrator Then under that Password:.I have never seen this and never had a password on this

As DrWho_64 mentioned, you've probably activated the logon prompt somehow. But since you tried jonesspammai's method and didn't work, It seems that your user account's password has been set. So all you have to do is perform password reset. Here's how to reset your password:
  1. First reboot Windows XP in safe mode by re-starting the computer and pressing F8 repeatedly as the computer starts up.
  2. Then (in safe mode) click Start and then click Run. In the open box type "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes, of course)
  3. You will now have access to all the user accounts, including the administrators account and will be able to reset the lost password.
  4. Just click the administrators user account (or the target user's account), and then click Reset Password. You will need to add a new password in the New password and the Confirm new password boxes, and confirm by clicking OK.
  5. All done, you have recovered the lost password
Hope you'll have it resolved soon :-)

Winxp wont let me activate when hitting ''yes'' I want to activate.

Unfortunately there is no other way of getting out of the activation loop than to do a full reinstall. Make a backup of your data, download new installers for all your programs (if they come with a disk then try are also available for download) and recover all your keys - either directly or use special soft like MagicJellyBean.

My computer turns on but will not let me log on to windows.. a small window comes up before opening wimdows"windows product activation. this copy of windows must be activated with microsoft before you can...

Click "yes, I want to activate" -- a telephone-number should be displayed. Telephone Microsoft, at that number, and they will help you "activate" your copy of Windows.

The only other option is to take the original "System Restore" CD-ROM disks, and 25-character Microsoft product-key, and reinstall Windows.

I'm cannot logon to WindowsXP Home Edition

Windows stores the activation information in two files in the c:\windows\system32 folder: Wpa.dbl and Wpa.bak. If those files are locked, or permissions are incorrect, Windows may not be able to save its activation information.

You might also want to check the following registry keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFTNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
(change Activation Required value to zero)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion
(change RegDone value to 1)

Boot into safe mode, click Start→Run and type regedit then check these values.
