Lochnivar gasd water heater 40 gallon. error code is two flashing lights then fades off all together. chart says thermopile voltage low. what does this mean?

A thermopile need 600 millivolts to work so it could be a bad connection thermopile head dirty or might need replacing or pilot is short / blocked .

Just replaced thermopile generator and pilot will not stay lit

Check the new thermopile with a millivolt meter and make sure it has the correct output not connected to the gas valve. If it does, then the gas valve is defective.Make sure to test ONLY the thermopile. If it does not generate enough millivolts the gas valve will not open.If the piliot is dirty it will not generate enough heat for the thermopile.Make sure you have a good, strong, blue flame at the pilot. You said the piliot will not stay lit?If not then start by blowing air back through the piliot where the flame comes out with compressed air.hopefully that will clean it well enough. If not you may have to take the pilot tubing loose from the valve and use compressed air to clean it.Make sure when you reconnect the tubing to the valve USE FINGERS ONLY to start tyubing or you may crossthread the tubing....and thats NOT a good thing.Good Luck.

Commercial propane fryer wont light

If the pilot won't light, the first thing to try is to replace the thermopile, assuming you have a good flame on the top portion of the thermopile in the first place when you hold the gas valve in when in the pilot position. If this does not solve the problem, which in 90% of the cases it will, the gas valve is defective. I usually replace the thermopile when replacing the gas valve and save the old one for a backup.

Riva 67 fire

Just making sure you did replace the Thermopile, not thermocouple. Unless it has an external power source. The thermopile creates the power for the valve to open and close. If the pilot flame is not hitting it correctly it will not produce the power needed to hold the valve open. I would look at the thermopile placement in the pilot flame. Good luck

How to test thermopile on Imperial IFS-40 deep fryer

Hi there.
You will be needing a dc voltmeter set at millivolt to test a thermopile.
measure the voltage across the termials of the thermopile when it is heated by the pilot flame, you should have 600 to 750 millivolt reading.
If the reading is less than 600, try cleaning it with non metal scrubbing pad and/ or try increaing the pilot flame or you have to replace it with a new one.
Try the same with your other fryers with thermopile.
You will be able to find parts at http://www.imperialrange.com
Regards.

What is the problem when millivolt gas valve can not keep it pilot on?

Hi there.
Probably the thermopile is not receiving enough heat from the pilot flame to generate 500 to 750 millivolt to hold pilot flame. The thermopile may have soot or dirt on it so try to clean or the pilot flame itself does not give enough heat, try adjusting pilot flame. Or the thermopile could not generate the right amount of millivolt even if it is clean and receiving enough heat from pilot flame, so better replace the thermopile.
Check also the hi limit, it must have continuity across its terminal.
Regards

Poilt is very week and will not open gas valve

The reason the control valve is opening slowly is the the Thermopile needs to be replaced. The Thermopile generates millivolts of electricity from the heat of the pilot flame, which then opens the gas valve when heat is called for. Also, check the pilot flame to make sure it's engulfing the thermopile. If it's not the pilot needs to be cleaned.

The Empire Comfort Systems, Thermopile part number is 672063

Pilot light keeps going out! Will not stay Lit.

Check if the the gas pressure is sufficient (as stated on unit's nameplate). Check if the hi limit device is good. Check also if the thermopile (cylindrical metal with two wires standing behind the pilot hood) is receiving enough heat from the pilot flame. The voltage generated by thermopile should be 500millivolts in order to open pilot and main valve. If there is 500millivolt on gas valve thermopile and the pilot flame does not stay lit, you have to replace the gas valve. If the thermopile is glowing red and the voltage generated does not reach 500 millivots, you have to replace the thermopile.
