Question about Boss Micro BR Digital Recorder

1 Answer

My br no longer wants to turn on. That is, it turns on, but never gets out of the initial "Micro Br" screen. Nothing gets loaded. Nothing is possible. It has to be turned off my taking the batteries out. I haven't had this machine for long, and have treated it well. i am a poor travelling musician, exactly what this thing was made for, now I'm dissappointed and bummed. can anyone help. I doubt it.

I believe that the hard drive has been damaged. replace it with a new one ( I did it with a 60Gb) and get the os files from the br website. Connect drive to your computer via usb or other means and copy files after extracting on your pc. Should be good to go.

What I need is a burner for mine.

I'm trying to buy a bigger memory card for the BOSS Micro BR, larger than the 128 mb. I purchased a "SD" 2 Gb card but always says "Unsupported format". is there a certain size or brand...

I believe this takes a MAXIMUM of a 1Gb card... Lot's of luck trying to find one of those these days!

You can try formatting it with the Micro BR but it probably won't do it.

I cannot turn on my Micro BR - its plugged in and has new batteries but still won't work Does this mean it's completely broken or is there some sort of stand by phase that may have initiated itself?

The devices that have battery AND adapter capability OFTEN have a switch that the adapter opens when powered by the adapter. Often this switch contact gets bent and units won
t run on battery, so try it on an adapter... if the adapter works and battery doesn't, this contact whcih is a part of the input power connector has failed.

My Boss br-8 keeps saying medium error. It's not reading any disc. It ask me to initialize disc that already have music on them.

If the disk had music that was not CREATED on the BR-8 you will get the error. The format is incompatible with computer formats.

If the files were created on the same BR-8, then you probably have a disk drive failure.

Try initializing a blank disk. If it will not, then you have a drive failure.

Also is it possible you are trying to read a 250Mb disk on a 100Mb drive? That won't work either.

Just bought Kingston 2GB SD Card for Boss Micro BR but when maching turned on,its frozen on KEEP POWER ON! SONG LOADING!

This is likely a compatibility issue. Turn power off and remove the card and make sure the unit comes back to life.

SD card compatibility can be a problem.

You might want to go to VSPLANET.com as there is a lot of info on forums about recorders.

Micro BR power Adapter

You may have damaged the data on the memory card. If you have no display at all carefully read page 125 of your manual. If it doesn't display with the adapter plugged in try new batteries. If it still doesn't display anything, contact the dealer you bought it from or try contacting Roland. This site should help:http://www.rolandus.com/support/service_centers/

This Sounds Very Bad Do You Have Experience With Taking Apart Computers? If So You May Want To Open Up Your Br-1180 And Remove The Hard Drive And Put It In Your Computer And Copy All The Data Off Of It. I Also Would Recommend Calling Roland They Are The Most Helpful People In The World.
