Question about FUJIFILM FinePix S1600 Digital Camera

1 Answer

I plug my FUJIFILM s1600 into computer and hold down play button to view pictures but doesn't work

No, I haven't dropped my camera and i take very good care of it. It has always worked fine for me but all of a sudden when i went to plug in my camera into my computer and held down the play button so i can get the pictures on to my computer, it didn't work. My computer doesn't acknowledge that there is a camera in it and my camera doesn't go to the white screen that it always does after holding down the play button. Instead it acts as if i turned it on and has the green button on the "On/Off" lit up, but the screen is black and nothing is there. Help?

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

SOURCE: Display screen is not showing up

There is a setting which controls how long the picture you have just taken will be displayed on the screen. Maybe adjusting this will help? I hope so.

There is a locking ring that goes in front of the lens. Problem is when you put the lens back in, there was nitrogen in-between the the lens. Its there to keep anything growing in there. I worked on optics in the Army.

The yellow icon is a warning that a slow shutter speed has been selected and to use a flash or tripod for the picture otherwise it could be blurry. An explanation can be found on page 27 and 28 of you user manual. A similar icon but in red and the letters AF will be seen if the camera has failed to auto focus.

SOURCE: us there anyway to undo

The answer is YES if you take care. Do it as follows.

First things first: DO NOT take any more photos with the memory card(within your camera) that you want to recover photos from. Take the card out of your cam and put it in a safe place. Because if you take any more files or save any data to your memory card, you may quite possibly ruin your chances of recovery.

Then Connect the card to your computer as it should appear as a "Removable Drive" or put the card in a card reader attached to your PC.

Next, if you are comfortable with using a PC then you can download a photo recovery utility that will recover your pictures with this software called Wondershare Photo Recovery (I once used this program bounded with some other software) from the following link(the program also recover videos and music files):

Photo Recovery for Windows (if you are running Windows OS)
Photo Recovery for Mac (for Apple Mac OS X)

Remember - Do NOT try & write anything back to your camera(memory card) until you can recover the files safely!

I hope you good luck!

I dropped my FUJIFILM S1600 camera and now it doesn't work, is there hope to fix it?

If it was my camera I would put my money towards a new camera.
It is obvious the zoom mechanism/motor is damaged and maybe some other damaged components.
You could get a quote to repair the camera but most likely they would charge you for the quote unless you go ahead for the repair.

My new fuji s1600 freezes when playing back photos and i have ot take batteries out to getit to swtich on and off and correct it?

Hi My brand new S1600 did exactly the same. Would freeze while displaying back Photos and had to remove batteries to unfreeze.
I solved the problem by updating the firmware from Version1.03 to 1.04 This is a known problem so why they sell cameras in the first place in this condition sucks
Go to This page for instructions and latest firmware versions

Hope this helps
