1. Do buy the right ram for the laptop such as 512Mb/1Gb So-Dimm DDR PC2700.

2. Unplug the power source and remove the battery as well. Press the power button for 5 seconds in order to discharge all electricity.

3. Open up the ram compartment with the designated screw drivers and replace the old ram with the new one. Make sure the clip of the ram slot is clipping the ram ledge to make sure its installed properly.

The biggest problem you will face is trying to find one, not choice or manufacturer. The interface is obsolete, so finding one If you have an AGP 8x motherboard then you will have more luck. The motherboard is the most important part of the system. This upgrade will not make a vast difference to the system, by the time you have spent money on a new graphics card and the cost of your new ram you could have spent the same money on a motherboard bundle and ended up with a much better computer for only a few more dollars.

According to the specifications it is a PCIEX16 expansion slot. (PCI-E x16)

A PCI-Express x1 slot has 36 contact pins. 18 on each side.

In comparison a PCI slot {White} has 124 contact pins. 62 on each side.

Looking at the photo of the supposed PCI-E x1 slot they show, the black PCI-Ex1 slot is longer than the white PCI slots.

It is a PCI-Express x16 slot with 164 pins. 82 on each side.



The Asus ATI Radeon HD6450 uses a PCI-Express x16 expansion slot.

So you know the graphics card will fit. Low-profile to boot.

Power requirement:

Enough power for the computer, and the graphics card.

After adding new graphics card monitor display will not work with motherboard display connector.
So, connect your monitor VGA cable with your graphics card display port.

You should try taking the side of the case off and run your blu-ray and see if its the fan if so I would get in touch with pny it maybe a bad fan if you have the sava you can upgrade the fan to a non noisey one.

it is very possible that that fan is mulfunctionning overheating the videocard. replace the fan. (you can by the fan seperate from radioshack or some local computer store. (sometimes it is cheaper to replace the video card since it comes with it's own fan.) but of course it depends on what card you have.

I hope you realize the manufacturer recommends a maximum of 1GB of RAM in this system.

Since the system only has PCI slots, any kind of PCI video card should work without a problem.
