Question about XFX GeForce 6200 Graphic Card

3 Answers

Pc hanging I have a fairly new xfx geforce 6200 256mb gfx card (3-4 months old). It used to run fine with NFS Most Wanted with lower medium settings till about 15 days ago and then all of a sudden the pc started hanging with various coloured lines across the screen. I've tried updating the gfx card and chipset (VIA) drivers as well as direct x 9c (latest update), cleaned the card, its contacts and the mobo. Cooling is not an issue since i have 1 fan sucking hot air out of the cabinet as well as 1 fan cooling the gfx card and the agp controller next to it. but there's still been no change. I uninstalled the game (I'd finished it anyway) and installed the Da Vinci code interactive game whose gfx requirements are much less, but i still face the same problem off and on (???!!!). Sometimes the game actually runs fine and of course i've cleaned and recleaned the cabinet space many times. Is it a problem with the gfx card or the OS (XP Pro SP2) which was installed about a year ago and probably runs a little slower now. Movies play fine on the monitor as well as the TV out. Thanking you in advance!!

Re: pc hanging

Hi, you most certainly have a problem with the card. I advise you to return it to the vendor ASAP for a warranty claim.

Iam using XFX Nvidia Geforce 8500 GT 512MB on my DELL Optiplex GX280.My graphic card was running fine about 4 months but now it is showing no display and my cpu fan shouts very much by putting this...

If the pc works the same when you boot in Safe Mode then the video card has failed - buy a new one.
If the pc works in Safe Mode then the video driver is corrupted - uninstall it then reboot normally then go here and download the latest available driver.

Need to update driver xfx gf mx4000

Go to and select GeForce as the product type and GeForce 4 MX as the series. Choose the OS and language and away you go.

However, this is a fairly old card and if you're trying to play a new game it is possible that it isn't supported - it has no programmable shaders, for example, which may be required for new games.

Card not getting detected

does this card have another power source (6 or 8 pin on top of the card) that has not been connected? Also be sure that it is fully seated in the slot. if it has 2 DVI or VGA ports make sure to use the one closest to the rear of the pc.

Other than that If you removed it you maybe have shorted something, ESD (eclectic static discharge) may have shorted out a circuit or transistor on the card.

Unstable windows vista in game nfs undercover

Try to reinstall the stock driver that came along the card in the box, if that still won't help try installing the newest driver, the next newest driver and so on.

Poor Resolution on Monitor 2

what u can do is.... 1) Backup your Registry first

2) go to Regedit....Start>Run>Regedit
(this is assuming u have latest Nvidia driver's installed)
In global. Make a new KEY called NVTWEAK
In this key, make a new DWORD value called Coolbits now, change the value of coolbits to 3.
Now when you do into Settings for GFX and advanced will notice a CLOCK SPEED/FREQUENCY tab. Change them.....go up like 20mhz....or 30 or 50...too high will screw ur card...too low isn't worth the trouble.
So, slowly go up little by little until you notice s--- on ur screen that's dodgy..then just fall back behind that Freq.
Also....another fan taking heat AWAY from the GFX card wouldn't do any harm either.

Don't forget to rate this solution.

Screen not starting after installing graphics card

Hi rohit1987,

The XFX NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT 256MB DDR3 PCI Express card uses two DVI ports on the back of the card. Display is most likely coming from the second port. Try moving your monitor cable to the next DVI port. You can do this while your system is running.
If you still do not receive display, post that here & we'll go over some other possibilities.

Good luck rohit1987!
Thank you for using fixya.

Computer restarting again and again

Did you try to reinstall the game? Do all windows updates? Did you have all recent drivers? If thoose are all done, try a reinstall of the OS. with all drivers.
