Ive seen this problem a few times, the problem is that your accidently or inadvertently touching the touch pad as you type. To fix this just disable the touchpad when your typing or put a piece of paper over it. To disable the touchpad it varies on different models but can normaly be done with a button near it, a FN and F1-8 key combo or through the touchpad driver on the task bar. Consult your manual for information on how to disable this.

Cursor and text jumps for dell inspiron 1150

Click the Windows "Start" button or press the "Windows" key. The "Start" menu opens. Type "Cursor blink" in the "Search programs and file" text box. A list opens. Click "Change Cursor Blink Rate." The "Keyboard Properties" window opens. Click the "Speed" tab. A list of options appears. The "Cursor Blink Rate" section shows a "Cursor Blink Rate" slider displaying a range from "None" to "Fast." Click and drag the slider button to the "None" area in the far left portion of the "Cursor Blink Rate" scale. Click "Apply." Click "OK." The cursor stops flickering on the screen.

On my laptop, the cursor jumps unpredictably to previously entered text.

The space bar 'contacts', internally are dirty or defective. You will probably need to replace the keyboard or seek from manufacturer a 'cleaning process ' for this keyboard.

Typing emails and sporadic jump back or forward to where cursor was last.

Hi!
I think, when you are typing, you accidentaly touch touchpad, so it;s like mouse click, and cursor will be active where is mouse, To avoid this:
  • Pay attention to yoru fingers
  • When you are typing long text, turn of your tuchpad (FN + FX , FX = button F1-F12 look for mouse or touchpad icon)
Hope it helps

Cursor jumps all over the place! Cursor "arrow" shifts to cursor "four-arrrow" then decides to change zoom level all on its own. Cursor disappears, is nowhere on the screen then...

The Touchpad is the cause. Although some work fine for years others jump the the pointer every time you type (or sneeze). You can turn the touchpad off if you have a mouse for the laptop. Otherwise, you might need to exchange/purchase another model laptop.

Cursor keeps jumping back in text when typing. This results in over typing things already typed. Not sure if this is me or a problem with my new laptop ?

Hi,

This is either caused by a remaining flea power on the laptop.

Try draining the flea power first:

1. Remove the battery and ac adapter
2. Press and hold the power button for at least 10sec.
3. Put back the battery and ac adapter
4. Turn on the computer

open a notepad, or any microsoft office and check if the cursor keeps jumping. If yes, try updating the touchpad driver / BIOS update.

Hope this helps.

Jumping cursor on EEE pc.

You're hitting the touchpad with your palms as you type. Either lift your hands when you're typing or temporarily disable the touchpad.

Jumping cursor whilst typing on an acer aspire 5315

Is the touchpad active?
It is common that users accidently touches the touchpad while writing and this causes the cursor to "jump"...
Another possibility is that the "TAB" key is jammed...

Typing problem

the problem is where the mouse cursor is. When you begin to type have the mouse cursor as far down the page as possible the glide pad can pick up the slightest variant of pressure and move your text to the position where the mouse cursor is.
