You told the story but forgot the essential ..the exact model of the laptop and if teh webcam is incorporated..and in this case ..you will find teh drivers on the hp site ..It may not have the drivers for your operation system in case you upgraded it ..but you can download the driver for a older one ..Openup the folder after extracting from the archive ..and select the execution file ..click right on it ..select propeties and under teh properties select compatibility ..and force it to install and run in compatibility with the operation system was made for (xo or vista ) if you have windows 7 ..and will probably give you an error on run ..and will offer to install in compatibility mode.. let me know the exact model and the OS you have now ..and I will look for the exact driver.. if the webcam is external you have to look for the driver by its model . Please comment on this . and I will link you for sure..or ..if you do not manage ..look for one of my services here and I will remote contact you and install the web cam .. http://www.fixya.com/users/drifterK anyway ..I will help you if you let me know the exact model .. just in case here is teh support site ..select the model exactly ..and the operation system ..or the most recent one ..and do like I said ..
first ..check teh system driver ..Open the control panel ..and in there look for the sound ..and in this windows look to see if the changes can be made..and the volumes are up .and so ..If it does not allow you to make changes ..or the driver is missing under the devices..it means you need to reinstall the driver ..same this you can check in device manager ..Just click right on computer icon (my comp .for xp ) and select properties and in there select device manager ..(select hardware and after that device manager if you running win .XP) ..In thsi list ..look for teh audio driver and see if it is installed proper ..If it is not ..it will apper with a ask sign and will be yellow marked ..In this case you need to download the driver from the support site ..or use teh drivers disk you got from the seller ..and install the audio driver again ..This should take care of the issue .. If the driver seam to be ok ..than look at the volume not to be muted..and also the volumes on the volume control to be razed..(volume mixer for windows 7 ) Including the wave volume ..cause if this is down ..it affects the payback ..even if you might have system sounds.. Good luck !
Usually sound problems are related with the driver ..so ..first thing to do if you think you tried all rest ..is to reinstall the driver for sound card ..to be sure you have teh correct driver ..sownload it from teh support site of the manufacturer ..and select teh exact ,model ..and operation system, you have in the laptop ..Download the driver and run it to install ..all the way ..until asks to restart ..restart it ..and it should work if the card is not damaged.. here are all the drivers for your model ..It is selected for windows xp ..but all you have to do is to select other operation system and download .. http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19 If you run windows xp and it originally come with Vista on it ..I think you may need to run the UAA architect driver first ..and after that the audio driver ..cause for the conexant audio driver ..It may be needed..It will basically not see the audio card in xp without it .. http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SOUND-CARD/OTHER-SOUNDCARDS/Microsoft-UAA-Bus-Driver-for-High-Definition-Audio.shtml its a Microsoft bus driver for HD ..
http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_3050.html select and download and run teh driver for windows vista ..they are very compatible for windows 7 ..and usually work without problems ..make sure you select it on 64 if you run such a operation system .. If the driver refuses to install ..just click right on the set-up icon ..and select properties ..and compatibility ..and tick the case and select to run it in compatibility with windows vista ..It will try to install ..it may refuse but will offer to run it in compatibility settings ..and you will have no further issues..Pay attention on future automatic updates and do not install any driver for it unless you are sure its the correct one ..
The quickest way is to use the free download of DriverAgent at DriverAgent.com. The program will scan your hardware device drivers to check for the latest drivers. This will tell you which drivers are out of date including your audio driver. You can then go to the manufacturer's site and download the correct audio driver for Windows 7.
If you subscribe to DriverAgent, you can just download the driver form their site or the manufacturer's site, and you have a way to check for the latest drivers for your system for the next year.
Please let me know if this works out for you and make sure to rate this solution. Thanks.
try to check ur cd driver(written there is that cd is working on windows vista). ur mboard is high-end and most of the driver is compatible to windows vista or higher operating system. you can actually download the driver thru the internet and make sure that the said driver is window xp compatible.
try to check the device manager, if the audio driver has a "?" "x" or "!" it means that the driver for audio is not installed or not properly installed. it could also mean that the driver is not compatible, try to go to hp support website and download the proper driver that is compatible with the operating system. check also if your using an integrated audio card or if it is in the expansion slot.
