SOURCE: How to open sewing machine case

Possibly thread got caught up where you can't see it either behind the hook or behind the handwheel. Not knowing what model machine you have your just getting generic answers here.
You will have to remove a cover and/or the handwheel to see. Its the only way it could be jamming up unless a gear broke
Good luck

SOURCE: foot pedal assembly for White sewing machine

You only need to replace the cord if it has been damaged. It will cost less if you just take the machine , cord and control to a local technician and have him just replace the foot control. Let him test it first. A generic foot control should cost less than $30.

SOURCE: Machine slows down, stops, starts again. Foot control problem?

Yes it does sound like a faulty foot control. The power cord is probably fine, you just need the controller. Ebay is a good source for parts.

There may be a disconnection between the lever and the presser foot bar. Perhaps a screw has fallen out, broken, or is loose? May need to take it for service.

Looking for a replacement foot controller for a Euro-Pro 9120

You may be able to get it from Euro Pro or a generic/universal model from a sewing machine dealer. They may need to see the machine to determine the type socket needed.
