HAier HVT12ABS wont turn on

The unit was working fine and now is dead.  I pulled off the plate in the back and it looks like there are two fuses on the back board and the top one looks black.  can I replace this fuse

I had the same problem, and when I looked the bottom fuse is blown on mine as well. My only problem is that I don't know where to find any prints which tell me what is downstream frtom this fuse.

I had the same problem. My 18-month old Haier HVT 12A wine cooler stopped working. I unplugged the unit, opened the back, and saw the circuit board and the two fuses soldered to the circuit board. The top fuse was OK. The bottom fuse, labelled FUSE2 5A/250V on the circuit board, was blown.

I went to Radio Shack and purchased a spring-loaded push and twist fuse holder ($3) and a bag of fuses (another $3). I soldered the leads from the fuse holder to the top and bottom of the dead fuse 2, inserted a new fuse, plugged it in, and it has been working fine ever since (1 month). If the new fuse fails, it is easy to replace. Total cost $6.

That board is available on there for $27. RF-1870-01 is the part number in case you still have the unit..

I too experienced this problem. The upper fuse that you refer to is the 120V AC line fuse. The lower fuse is for the internal 12VDC supply (5A). These fuses are pig tail types and are soldered into the circuit board. The 12VDC fuse was blown on mine. After some cursory troubleshooting, I replaced the fuse, and off she ran... for about 12 hours and the fuse blew again.  It's not worth fixing.

Haier doesn't list a fuse.  That board would need to be replaced if it is the problem.  I would say the most common problem on those is the thermostat if the board doesn't fix it.  You might see if that fuse will pop out and test it for resistance first.  If it does come out you might be able to find one at a hardware store that will fit and see if it starts working again.  I looked at http://www.partsquik.com/scripts/realtime.live/InvLookup/haiermsearch03.p

Haier Dual Zone Wine Chiller - One Fan wont run

I have the same problem. When I first discovered this, both fans had stopped working and the temp for both zones was over 80. So much for the wine that had been stored there. After leaving the unit unplugged for a few days, the fan for the lower section started working again but the upper fan is still overheating. Haier customer service says too bad, so sad (I discovered this problem in the 13th month of ownership). I'm sure it is not worthwhile to fix this so it is going out with the trash and I'll look for a different brand for the next wine cellar that I purchase. Any ideas?

My Haier 12 wine bottle cooler is dead. No fan or cooling .

Check the 2 fuses, one covered with black heat shrink, next see if internal fan is spinning, inside door, the 2 fans on the back should spin when first plugged in. also the 2 led's red and green should light up...if internal fan doesn't spin then check or replace, use batteries to get it to spin as a test...good luck, safety first...

not to much experience with tecs, but a tec has a hot and cold side so turn the tec around and that should solve your problem and also some good thermal paste should be used on the hot side. good luck and let me know how you got on.

Won't turn on

Hello DeanFro,
Happy to assist you,

You said,
unit was working fine, but now it's dead. is there any troubleshooting steps available. there are two circuit boards and there is no obvious problem like blown fuses etc...

1.Try to unplug the unit for 5 minutes and then restart it. To see if this resets the system.
2.If not then it is a freon leak or thermostat that bad!
If you one year warranty for parts and labor.
And if you bought it before 2006, then you have 5 years for the compressor.

You sound like you need a hands on tech to diagnose the problem.
Bless You,
Please give me a good rating prior to leaving the site.
Thank You
