HAier HVT12ABS wont turn on (by 2 users)

the unit was working fine and now is dead. I pulled off the plate in the back and it looks like there are two fuses on the back board and the top one looks black. can I replace this fuse

I had the same problem, and when I looked the bottom fuse is blown on mine as well. My only problem is that I don't know where to find any prints which tell me what is downstream frtom this fuse.

I too experienced this problem. The upper fuse that you refer to is the 120V AC line fuse. The lower fuse is for the internal 12VDC supply (5A). These fuses are pig tail types and are soldered into the circuit board. The 12VDC fuse was blown on mine. After some cursory troubleshooting, I replaced the fuse, and off she ran... for about 12 hours and the fuse blew again. It's not worth fixing.

GuruHaier doesn't list a fuse. That board would need to be replaced if it is the problem. I would say the most common problem on those is the thermostat if the board doesn't fix it. You might see if that fuse will pop out and test it for resistance first. If it does come out you might be able to find one at a hardware store that will fit and see if it starts working again. MasterThat board is available on there for $27. RF-1870-01 is the part number in case you still have the unit..
