Is a knob that won't tighten on hayward pump normal wear and tear?

it is possible that the knob was overtightened. check the slipping knob to see if there is a crack in the shaft. the other option is that it is stripped.
either way, it will not be considered normal wear but you should be able to find a replacement knob at your local store

What is the solution for a knob that won't tighten on Hayward Super Pump?

Sounds like it is stripped out. This does happen overtime. You need a new Hand Knob Kit. You can find one here:

Hope this helps.

Water leaking from front door

Check gasket for rips or damage. Replace if necessary.
Clean gasket after every use. Wipe with a bleachy rag. Use only HE detergent in small amounts.Dog hair, etc can get stuck in the gasket causing a small leak. Oversudsing can also cause leaks.

Dooe gasket came off, need to put it back on

The following link explains step-by-step how to install a door bellow (gasket) on a Whirlpool Duet:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3574186-installing_a_door_bellow_on_a_front_load

The bellow does wear out with age and can also become mishapened from repeated pressure from the door being closed. Over time the bellow can stretch or develop rips and tears and begin to leak. If the bellow is leaking, or not poviding a good seal any longer, it can easily be replaced without the assistance of a repairman.

Replacement parts (if required) can be purchased at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

All these sites are reputable and have great service with competitive pricing, so shop and compare. The first three sites I listed also include helpful exploded view parts diagrams to assist you in locating and properly identifying the parts you need.

If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: If you leave the door OPEN between washes this will help prevent constant pressure on the door seal which can stretch it out of shape over time. It is also beneficial to allow the wash tub to air out to prevent mold and mildew from forming. In addition, do not overload the washer. This can contribute to premature wear and tear on the gasket and also cause it to become dislodged. Follow your manufacturer's recommendations for loading.

Torn rubber gasket

The front door seal is referred to as the "bellow". They do wear out with age and can also become mishapened from repeated pressure from the door being closed. Over time the bellow can stretch or develop rips and tears and begin to leak. If the bellow is leaking, or no longer sealing correctly, the following link explains how to replace one:

Which part to replace?

You need to replace the regulator (pressure adjustment assembly.)
You can find the part number by searching on the DeWalt web site. It's important to know not only the model number but also the type number of your compressor; the type number is which version of the compressor you have.

GE top load Super Capacity 16 cycle washer (one year old)

We have a GE WJRR4170 washer, with the same problem. At first I thought I might have to unscrew the entire control panel just to replace the knob. However, replacing it turns out to be easy.

Right behind the knob, holding it in place, is a nylon/plastic retainer clip. If you pull out the knob (into the "start" position), you can use a flathead screwdriver to push the clip out. The knob then will slide easily off the metal stem. A GE replacement knob costs $9 or $10, depending on the source.

Shame on GE, but the knob is designed terribly. The part of it that engages the dial has eight, flimsy plastic teeth. At any time, four of these are supposed to engage four little slots in the dial. However, the way the knob is designed, there will be a lot of wear and tear on these plastic teeth, so they'll wear out on every single machine.

Good luck to the many people who will have this problem!
