If this is an electric antenna it has a motor that makes it go up and down. Either the wire from the car stero is not hooked up to send to the signal to the motor or the motor itself needs to be replaced.

Hi I have a pioneer avh.x3500 that displays ANTENNA ERROR all the time! Is there a fix for this? JJ

Check the connections for the aerial to the device. If they are good and the aerial gives out a good signal then there's an electrical fault on the unit.

On a Panasonic radio/cassette player model-CQ-RD910 Len,which colour wire is the trigger/sender wire for an electric aerial/antenna to extend or retract the mast. The electric aerial/antenna drive motor...

The " Blue & red spotted " wire that is spare from the rear of the radio transpires to come from the " cold " side of the radio's on / off switch , and serves to be only energized when the radio is switched-on and slowly shuts down on supply voltage when the radio is switched off , thus giveing a supply voltage for the relay & switch over reed switches in the aerial / antenna motor unit for a short run-down-time , to change over and allow the aerial mast to retract , in readyness for when the radio is switched on again and the aerial/antenna mast will power up .
This trigger / sender wire is connected via a 2 amp. fuse through to the aerial / antenna power relay.
The main aerial power motor unit is fed via a 6 amp. fuse.

Electric car aerial

Open the bonnet (hood) and prop open with a golf umbrella, remove three bolts holding the wing onto the engine compartment and one bolt in the middle of the door frame (with the door open), you can then pull the wing off enough to be able to remove / change the aerial.
The fixing at the bottom of the aerial unit to a bracket on the wing can be difficult to undo; I just broke it off and fitted the new aerial without the bottom bracket fixing.

Might sound silly, but physically remove each fuse in the engine bay, check the fuse receptical for corrosion, dirt, etc. Check each fuse with an ohm meter for continuity and return to socket. Had one socket acting up on mine.
