Question about Linksys StackPro II 100BaseFX Distance Extender (DSHFXSC)
I recently upgraded my computer from Vista to XP Pro, and in the
process of formatting the C: drive, lost a lot of information about
hardware. I now have a wireless adapter which works, but I can't
get a LAN connection to. Any advise?
The driver file formats are not excuteable thats why you cannot open files to install lan drivers. its so funny the way broadcom done it.

You can get this driver, and any others, form the Acer site:
http://us.acer.com/
Follow the "notebooks" link.

You did say you drivers are bust and cant connect to the internet..
Ok no big deal...
1.March yourself down to your local electronics store buy a 1gb thumb drive.
2. Go to your local library stick in thumb drive and down load the drivers.
3. go to your machine and install drivers from thumb drive
4. Configure your machine
5 enjoy

You will need to reinstall the LAN driver. Go to Start >Control Panel > System >Hardware >Device Manager and select the LAN network card to reinstall the driver with. If you don't have the disk, then use the wireless connection to access the internet and search for the driver to download.

Assuming that the LAN cable connection and Broadcom drivers were all valid and working. Then perhaps the wrong firewall setting may have caused the connection to fail.
I experienced the same problem where the wireless worked fine while the LAN did not. Through trial and error in searching and changing various network settings, I came across the Computer Associate firewall software package had the Broadcom 440x bit assigned to 'Restricted', comparing to the 802.11g where its at 'Safe'. Thus blocking the LAN while allowing the wireless access to the internet. This may also be applicable to other firewall software packages.
If you have the same CA firewall, then just step through the following to see if that would do the trick:
Access CA Personal Firewall => Firewall (button on the left) => Zones tab => Zone Assignment
Then find the 440x and right click to change its assignment from 'Restricted' to 'Safe' to restore LAN access.
If you have the same CA firewall, then just step through the following to see if that will fix the trouble:
Access CA Personal Firewall => Firewall (button on the left) => Zones tab => Zone Assignment
Then find the 440x and right click to change its assignment from 'Restricted' to 'Safe' to restore LAN access.

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

i recently updated my pc and now it reads internet connected but there is no network it is connected to
I have an acer aspire 3690. it connetcs to tthe internet via the wireless network but i have NO drivers for the network card. I cant seem to find any anywhere
I ended up (with my wireless connection - no need to go to the library for me) downloading the broadcom suite. It worked for both my wireless and LAN adapters, and while it has some incompatibilities (If I want to "search for wireless networks in range" using windows, I have to enable that every time) but other than that it's fine. There are still a lot of unfinished things but it works for the most part.
