You should be getting a fresh batch of ice every two hours or so. If it is taking longer than that, then the freezer temp is not going down low enough, fast enough for the ice maker to work properly. Also check to see if the heater element for ice removal is working - if it has burned out the new cubes are stuck in there and it can take a while for them to be freed up so a new ice making cycle can commence.

How do I diagnos leaking ice maker

If your freezer seems to be working okay, the ice maker has a thermostat closes a switch to start the ice maker harvest cycle. I would suspect this thermostat is bad.

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.
Often the reason ice makers slow or stop ice production is because the freezer compartment has gradually warmed up above 17 Deg F and the ice maker thermostat will not start an ice harvest cycle. What causes this gradual warming is usually the result of either an evaporator fan running slow or an automatic defrost circuit problem caused by a fault defrost timer/control defrost heating element or defrost thermostat / thermistor.
You can use this manual to troubleshoot the ice maker:
http://applianceassistant.com/pdf/inDoorIceSystem.pdf
or
https://secured.whirlpool.com/Service/SrvTechAdm.nsf/2cd44500d572193285256a45004fd9d6/8527f904cc8ea8cd85256b5800672333/$FILE/4322658A.pdf
Note that jumpering T to H requires the ice maker thermostat to sense a termp of 14 - 16 Deg F for the ice harvest cycle to start. If by jumpering T - H under the ice maker front cover the ice maker does not cycle then either the freezer compartment is too warm or the ice maker thermostat is bad.
If it cycles and does not add water... then the inlet water valve solenoid has failed or the ice maker module is not supplying power to the inlet water valve.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

How to make ice faster

Good day,
When an ice maker harvests a batch, the next batch will be determined by a thermostat embedded in the ice maker body.
When it resets the next harvest will occur, thus determining the frequency of harvest cycles. Thus production.
The first thing to determine is the size of the cubes. If they have become slowly undersized, it could be the water valve's diaphragm starting to swell. If that is the case, then replacing the valve is the only solution. It cannot be serviced.

The second thing is the water feed from the house. The line, and even more so the fittings can start to corrode, slowing the water flow down, producing the same effect described above.

If it has a water filter, that as well can cause this same issue.
Lastly, the temperature of the freezer has a major effect on production. You should check the freezer temperature with an accurate thermometer. It should be at, or very close to zero.
Any temperature above that will slow production.

Although rare, the thermostat in the ice maker can go out of calibration causing slow cycles. Impossible to test, it is one of your last options.

I am assuming the water pressure in the house is normal. Houses with low water pressure can have severe low ice production.

Ice cube maker makes ice cubes ever once and a while, the condenser fan turns slowly. is this why it doesn't make ice cubes and the frezzer side is not cold enough? condenser fan going out? monogram...

Good day,
The ice maker speed of production is determined by the freezer temperature. If the freezer temperature is warmer than normal then the cycle thermostat in the ice maker will take longer to reset for the next harvest, causing low ice production.
More important, the condenser fan motor running too slowly can cause the compressor to run overheated and cause serious and expensive damage.
If in your opinion, it is running too slow, the issue should be addressed as soon as possible.

Replaced water valve but still will not supply water to the ice maker

Because your model has the mechanical type ice maker it is likely the ice makers thermostat is the most likely problem. Test ice maker by filling with tap water. Once the water freezes te thermostat tells the ice maker first to warm the bottom just long enough to cause the cubes to loosen in their slots and next th rake begins to cycle the cubes up and out of the ice maker and into the storage and auger pan. If the water just freezes and the ice maker does not cycle the you know the water control valve is new. The thermostat is what tells the cycle to begin. depending on the age of the ice maker just changing the defrost thermostat would be the best choice. Ice maker not making ice

either the thermostat is bad or the heater isnt working. You could take the icemaker out and connect leads to the heater to see if it warms up or use an ohm meter to test the heater and thermostat. Also take the cover off and see if the cog wheel on the motor is broken.
