Question about Honeywell Programmable Thermostat Heater

1 Answer

Battery isn't low & I replaced the fuse on my Maple/Chase thermostat but the furnace won't kick in. If I adjust the requested temp below the actual room temp then it will kick in but just blow cool air and as soon as I adjust the requested temp above the room temp it shuts down. This is backwards and I'm not sure what to do. I've pressed the reset button and made sure I was on heat not cool. Help.

I sounds like either the stat is in cooling mode or you have a heat pump system and the thermostat is not configured correctly.

There is a control voltage transformer that makes 24 volts AC to operate the relays and motor contactors. The line fuses may be blown too. Check them both.

Bryant programmable thermostat doesnt keep the temp have to put it on fan instead of auto

My guess is that you have gas heat. If this is the case, sounds to me like your main control board or depending on age of furnace, fan controller is not working. With gas furnaces, it utilizes 2 fan speeds. High for cooling, & Low for heating. Your thermostat only controls the High speed - switches when you turn your fan on & when there is a call for cooling. The only other thing I can think of is it is possible that the Low speed windings on the blower motor are open causing it to not turn on. Most motors have 3 to 4 speeds & only 2 are used. Switch the heat motor wires in the furnace (on the control board) with one that is on a spare terminal.

I recently switched out an anolog thermostat for a programmable one. I programmed it and everything looks fine except the furnace isn't turning on. I manually bumped up the temp and nothing happ

My suggestion is you made a wiring error. Does the furnace come on when you turn the thermostat DOWN?
Re-check your wiring. The AUTO-MAN switch for the fan only switches the fan on, leave it in auto.

Gas Furnace trouble

the thermostat sends a signal to the circuit board. Not knowing anymore than I do about your heater or furnace I would suggest that that is a good place to start. Any limit or safety switch wouldnt coincidentally shut off the heater when it reached the set temp.

Maple chase is the same I believe.Sounds like the thermostat is bad.I personally think the Honeywell 3000-4000 series thermostat are better. But the Maple should work!

You can even print the instructions and bring them right to the thermostat to help make things easier.

However - the problem is probably not with your thermostat but with your furnace. It is most likely a dirty flame sensor - a maintenance issue. If you have not had your furnace serviced recently (more than 1 year) that is where you should start. Modern furnaces require regular maintenance.

Furnace is not turning on

Sounds like you have a bad fan limit. they will sometimes kick on in the summer when the temp gets high enough. now it sounds like it is not working at all. it is usually mounted with a metal square cover over it removing the cover would expose the dial this it what turns as the furnace heats up and kicks on the fan . turning it by hand will check to see if fan will kick on(turn a lttle clockwise)
