Sounds like a main system control IC fault. Source selection section to it is faulty. Contact any service technician.

Why does Hitachi TV randomly change source codes after switching off?

Do a hard reset to this set, and then check. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Service mode entry, adjust and exit procedure to many popular brand TVs are given. Never forget to exit the service mode, after all adjustments have been done

I have a 6" plasma

Keep pushing the tv input button. This will allow you to cycle back through the other inputs and get you back to your source. When you pushed the button, you changed the source input.

I hit source button-no tv

You will have changed the inout signal on the Tv to either HDMI input or EXT1 , or AVI. You need to keep pressing the source button until you reach TV again, the TV button (depending on what tv you have) :)

Channel keeps changing

It sounds like a stuck button or switch. What happens when you hit the channel DOWN, does it still keep scrolling down?
Is this with or without the remote?
Have you tried it with the remote and or the TV?

Let me know whether you are changing the channels with the remote or the buttons on the tv and I can try to give you a couple more suggestions.
Mac =)

Protron PLTV-32 Television source changes on it's on.

This is NOT an electrical issue. Anyone who is half handy with their hands can easily fix this.

I had this issue for awhile, and I just figured it out. There is a plastic strip that cover the the buttons on the tv. They want you to think it is a touch panel, but it isn't. Anyway it is glued on, not screwed or attached in any other way. The reason it keeps changing the source is because the glue expands when it heats up, and causes to source button to be pressed. There are several ways to fix this. You can remove the strip which is long about the length of the tv. Stick a knife or screwdriver under one end and slowly pull it off. Problem is solved, but it makes the screen look ugly. The way to fix this is by using a razor or knife and cutting off the glue (which is really tape) under where the buttons are. You can replace it with better glue, or just eliminate the glue from under the buttons and keep the glue on both ends, so you can re-attach it to the tv.

After programming my new universal remote, the tv keeps changing chanels! wont stop!

you need to program your remote control. take the battaries out. and maually turn the tv on. then hit the source you want to view. for example, I want to control the tv set. I push, code search and hold it then push the source button and then release the source button and then release the code search button. now, aim at the tv and then keep pressing power button till it goes off. when the tv is off, hit return or set or something like that.( every remote has different calling for it but still the same function) it should work. try it and let me know.
