What's your question? hi if the wire leading to the positive terminal of the battery gets corroded by battery acid can it effect the car in starting. ....

Most certainly. If battery acid is present on top of the battery, the seal between the post and the top of the battery is leaking. Replace your battery and use baking soda and water to clean the battery cable.

Why won't my DateXX DS-883 Graphing Calculator work, it has new batteries?

Try a Q-Tip soaked with alcohol and clean the battery terminals. Also, WD-40 works well to. If batteries are left in too long after a total discharge, it can produce acid which will eat away the plating on the terminals. If that's the problem, WD-40 is the best choice to use.

Car wont start but batterys good

A fully charged battery does not mean that its amperage output is adequate, have it tested at an auto parts store. While your problem could be battery, wiring, key switch, solenoid, starter or maybe really cold outside, best to start with simplest first, clean the battery terminals and cable connectors with a terminal brush tool and install anti-corrosion impregnated felt rings on each terminal. With the battery terminals disconnected, also unbolt and clean the solenoid and starter terminals too and re-tighten. Then find the "ground" connections from the negative battery cable to the metal chassis and from the engine to the chassis, unbolt, clean, sand clean each if necessary and reinstall. If when using a voltmeter there is any reading between the engine block and the negative terminal of the battery, installing an extra ground cable directly between the engine block and the negative battery terminal connector. When reinstalling battery terminals, install positive terminal first, place socket slightly larger than battery terminal on top of it and lightly tap to fully seat the cable connector on the battery terminal before tightening. Tighten snug enough that cable connector does not move on the battery terminal, do not over tighten. Beware of battery acid and accumulated corrosion, wear eye protection and protective gloves too and be aware that battery acid eats holes in clothing and cloth gloves. If problem persists, a DC voltmeter most useful to determine if when key turned to start, there is voltage applied to the solenoid. If yes, then to check if solenoid operates upon key turn to "start" applying voltage through solenoid to starter. If yes, and if battery amperage output tested "ok" then starter may need to be replaced.

How To Clean Battery Terminals With Coke

Best way is boiling water straight from the jug, You can make up a bi carb & water solution to nutralise acid on battry. If to dirty for this the terminals should be removed from the posts & cleaned properly (sand paper or a battry post / terminal cleaner is even better but make sure you have your radio code if you have coded radio. Refit terminals & spray with battry terminal treatment spray.

Engine die when acid consume the battery but after cleaning acid the engine start again

I fail to see what the problem is...? Obviously you have your problem fixed. If you're at all concerned about the acid resurfacing, replace your battery and at the same time, replace your negative terminal (I'm assuming that is the one that was consumed with acid).

Car won't start after battery was cleaned.

what do mean the battery was cleaned ? was the fluids inside removed ?

or was the terminals (where the cables connect) cleaned due to some whitish build up ?

If the fluids inside were cleaned you can try (and this will probably not work). remove the battery from the car.

open the battery (the caps where the water goes in). remove the fluid inside (be careful it may be sulfuric acid) then rinse out the battery a couple of times with hot water.

leave battery in sun with caps off to dry out completely.

fill the battery with battery acid.

Put the battery on a trickle battery charger for 24 hours or until charger indicates full charge.

Reinsert into car and connect the terminals.

See if it worked.

If it didnt -> replace the battery

If the terminal were simply cleaned, lossen the terminals with the correct spanner, pour some hot water over the terminals to wash away any residues, then while the terminal are still wet fasten the terminals once again.

Remember that should the fluid inside your battery gets low (should be checked regularly) fill it with battery water (distilled water) only.

How do I get the battery out of the 2002 cadillac deville?

I used to change batteries out of GM cars for Sears Roebuck & Co.

Most Cadillacs are similar.

First, disconnect the negative (-) black terminal and set aside so it won't touch the negative terminal of the battery. Then, disconnect the red positive (+) terminal.

The battery is held down by a 1/2" hex or 13 mm hex bolt that has a plastic hold down. Unscrew this in the counterclockwise direction.

If there is a cross bar or plate over the battery, then remove the bolts that hold it on in order to remove the battery more easily.

Always wear eye protection and optionally wear gloves to protect against acid that may have leaked out onto the battery or the battery tray.

I have 05 battery, something keeps draining it. Positive terminal gets corrosive, cleaned connecttions- ok, the next day the truck would not start again. It wasdead.

seems like you have acid leaking out of the post and that causes the corosion ,if thats the case you can try to seal around the post or replace the battery and also the acid may have gotten in the cable and eaten the wire inside the insulation of the cable, and leaking can cause the battery to run down because it is wet and shorts across the terminals ,allways keep you battery clean and dry. when i clean the terminals i use alittle white lithuim grease to coat the terminal and post.hope this helps.
