Hello

Billy Reeves is my name. The first thing to do is reboot. Log into Thunderbird. (Thunderbird will download your email to your hard drive. Thunderbird receives this data from the Internet Service Provider that you pay for monthly, or yearly.

Now login into your gmail account.
Make sure that account is functioning correctly.

You can have your gmail forwarded to your thunderbird account by choosing settings in gmail.
Google offers a wealth of info right on their site.

Import contacts to gmail or export contacts to Thunderbird.

Don't be afraid to click on the Help tab.

I am asked to provide a password to access my email. It came up suddenly.Previously I never had to use a password.I am the only PC user.Helmut

Mozilla Thunserbird is an email client. Honestly, I've stopped using emal clients since about ten years, when gmail was launched so I have no isea how and why Mozilla Thunserbird is using passwords. Strange that a password should appear when you haven't define one. Sometime problems like this happen because of some prank; someone get access to your computer and inputs a passwoer. OK, if not the case, excuse me, just a wild guess.

Here you have some infor about Mozilla Thunderbird pasmaster password

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/master-password

In any case, if you can't solve this password issue, my advice is, access your email throug webmail. Btw, if you have gmail, hotmail or yahoo, you can manage your mal way better directly throug the web then for an email client..
Once you've got all your mail, uninstall Mozilla Thunserbird and reinstall it, so you shiould remove this passwoerd.

Verify security

Fix Mail Apps and Devices Show Incorrect Password Error After Enabling 2...
[Fix] Mail Apps and Devices Show Incorrect Password Error After Enabling 2-Step Verification in Microsoft or Gmail Account "2-step verification" is an important security feature which protects your online account whether its your email account or a social networking account. It asks for an extra security code each time you try to sign in to your account. This security code is sent to your registered mobile phone or alternative email ID.
Recently Microsoft enabled this 2-step verification feature for Microsoft accounts which are used for emails, Windows 8, XBox, etc. On the other hand Google is already providing two-step verification in its Gmail service since long time.
If you enabled 2-step verification feature in your Microsoft or Gmail account, you might be facing a weird issue. If you try to access your email account using an email client such as Windows Live Mail, Thunderbird, Microsoft Outlook, etc, it'll now allow you to sign in using your current password. It'll show you an incorrect password error message even if your password is absolutely correct. The same problem will also occur if you try to sign in using your Microsoft account in devices such as Xbox 360 or Android smartphones.
Now the question comes why does this problem occur? Why do these mail apps and devices not accept your correct password? The answer is very simple. These mail apps and devices were not designed to ask you for the extra security code which is required for 2-step verification. Since these apps and devices don't ask for security code, the 2-step verification procedure is not completed successfully, hence you can't sign in using your credentials in those apps and devices.
So what's the solution? The solution is very simple. Every company which provides 2-step verification feature, also allows you to create special passwords for these mail apps and devices. You can create separate passwords for each app and device and then you can use that special password to sign in to those apps or devices. Now those apps and devices will accept the new password and will allow you to access your account without any problem.
So if you have enabled 2-step verification feature in Microsoft or Gmail account and if you are facing login password problems in mail apps or devices, you just need to create above mentioned special passwords or codes to sign in without any problem.
Just follow these simple steps to create app passwords for your Microsoft or Gmail account:
A. Create App Password in Microsoft Account 1. Open your Microsoft account security settings page by clicking on following link:
Open Microsoft Account Security Settings Page
2. You'll see "App passwords" section at the bottom of the page which shows following information:
Some apps and devices don't support security codes. In these cases, you need to create an app password to sign in. 3. Click on "Create a new app password" link and it'll immediately provide you a new password generated randomly.

Now you can use this new password to sign in to a 3rd party mail app or device.
B. Create Application Specific Password in Gmail Account

1. Open your Google account settings page by clicking on following link:
Open Google Account Settings Pag
2. Now click on "Security" tab given in left-side pane. Scroll down on the page and you'll see "Connected applications and sites" section at the bottom of the page.
3. Click on "Manage access" button and it'll open a new page showing following information:Some applications that work outside a browser aren't yet compatible with 2-step verification and cannot ask for verification codes, for example: email programs including Outlook, Apple Mail, or Thunderbird, older Android smartphones. To use these applications, you need to generate an application-specific password. 4. Type any desired name in given text box and click on "Generate password" button.create_application_specific_password_google_account.pngThat's it. It'll immediately provide you a new password which can be used in any mail app or device to sign in.PS: If you want to remove or disallow any mail app or device to access your account, you can remove existing app password or revoke access from devices using the same account security settings pages as mentioned in above instructions.
how that helps good luck.

Facebook

Point your web browser at http://www.facebook.com

If another account comes up, log out of it by clicking the little gear icon in the upper-right then clicking "Log Out."

If you then still can't log in to your account, click the "Forgot your password?" link located just below the password box on the login page.

You also probably want "gmail.com" instead of "gail.com".

How to configer email address in lotus notes

From what provider are you trying to configure email? If its gmail,

1. Create a Lotus Notes database file to store your POP emails: Lotus Notes does not create a file automatically as Thunderbird or other mail clients do but you have to manually point the mails to flow to a file that is already existing.
2. In the local Address Book, create two accounts for accepting incoming email and sending outgoing email on Gmail. Names are not important but the configuration on the two accounts is!
Account document for Incoming Gmail:
The Basics tab
a. Account name: Can be anything (I chose In Gmail)
b. Account server: pop.gmail.com
c. Login Name: Your gmail email address (complete with the @gmail.com)
d. Password: Your password
e. Protocol: POP
f. SSL: Enabled
g. Only from Location(s): Doesn't matter. Although I would recommend creating a location document specific for Gmail if you are also using Domino Server. I chose creating a location (Gmail).
Protocol Configuration tab: There is only one field here and it doesn't matter what you do with it.
Advanced Tab: This is the most important tab.
a. Port Number: 995
b. Accept SSL site certificates: Yes (Most of the articles on the web tell you to choose No here. But it does work. Trust me. I have tried it)
c. Accept expired SSL certificates: Yes. (Most of the articles on the web tell you to choose No here. But it does work. Trust me. I have tried it)
d. Send SSL certificates when asked (outbound connections only): No.
e. Verify account server name with remote server's certificate: Disabled
f. SSL protocol version: V3.0 with V2.0 handshake
3. Click on Save and Close to save the document and exit. Now you will need to create another account document to handle the outgoing email.
Account document for Outgoing Gmail:
The Basics Tab
a. Account Name: Can be anything. I chose Out Gmail
b. Account server name: smtp.gmail.com
c. Login Name: Your gmail email address (complete with the @gmail.com)
d. Password: Your password
e. Protocol: SMTP
f. SSL: Enabled
g. Only from Location(s): Doesn't matter. Although I would recommend creating a location document specific for Gmail if you are also using Domino Server. I chose creating a location (Gmail).
Advanced Tab: This is the most important tab.
a. Port Number: 587 or 465 (Both are SSL port and both work)
4. Once these two documents are created, I would recommend creating a location document to ensure that you separate your gmail from your other Domino based account on the client. The steps to create are:
5. In the same local Address Book, choose New --> Location
Basics Tab:
a. Location Type: Local Area Network
b. Location Name: Can be anything (I chose Gmail)
c. Internet Mail Address: Your gmail email address
Leave the rest as it is.
Servers Tab:
a. Home/Mail server: pop.gmail.com
Leave the rest as it is.
Ports tab: No changes (ensure TCPIP is checked)
Mail Tab (Most important):
a. Mail file location: Local
b. Mail file: My Gmail.nsf (whatever you created in step 1 above).
Update: A couple of readers pointed out that I had missed an important step in the configuration how-to. So here it is. Step C has been added to include the missed step.
c. Internet domain for Notes addresses when connecting directly to the Internet: gmail.com
d. Send Outgoing mail: directly to Internet
Leave the rest of the fields as it is.
6. There is no need to change the rest of tabs. Click on Save and Close to create the document.
Change to the the new location and you will see Gmail getting downloaded in the mail file you created.
