the type of mic input built into a pc (with a mini-jack socket) will not accept the output of a pro dynamic mic such as the one you have - it won't work correctly. 2.) if the toy stops working, try pressing the yellow button directly above the playskool logo on the helmet.

I had this problem on my laptop when I first got my quickcam. Go to the quickcam menu (should be a slim vertical bar). Click on the "gears" and then the microphone. At the top, it should offer a choice of microphones (maybe it says "quickcam" or "logitech" and "realtek"). You need to choose the "logitech" or "quickcam" option.
This fixed it for me, but it often switches back to the other one, so I frequently have to do this again...and sometimes restart everything once I do it.
If you are using skype, go to the upper left hand top and click on call. Then click on audio settings and make sure your microphone is listed as the mike to use in the window of the drop down menu. It should say logitech something in the window that says microphone.
