Make sure the antenna wire is visible from the receiver.

SOURCE: remote not controling fan

You either have a bad receiver or the receiver isn't wired correctly,

On the receiver house wire side are black, white, and green.

On the receiver fan side are white, black, blue, and green. The black is hot for the fan, the blue is hot for the light. They can be wired together from receiver to fan.

At the bottom are a blue and a white wire to go to the lights.

Sometimes when installed the receiver is placed so that a part of the wiring box obstructs the signal from the remote and it doesn't work properly, or misses some commands.

I recommend buying a new remote and receiver and wiring the receiver in so that it rests on the sheetrock beside the wire in box.

If the light has a pull chain, pull it once and then push the light button on the remote. I think this is an add on remote so you can buy a new one if that doesn't work. Or, you can buy another fan as this is a low-end Hunter fan.

Ceiling fan remotes

If you know where the remote receiver is located on the fan (probably in the canopy or the compartment where a light kit would attach), you may want to see if you can find the wire antenna that is hanging off of it. If possible, run that wire outside the canopy so it is exposed, this might give you a better response.

Hunter ceiling fan w/ remote won't work

You need to change the receiver inside the fan. It is located in the top canopy of the fan. you don't have to buy a new remote just the receiver to save money and match the dip switches to the remote.
