Question about HP DeskJet 5550 InkJet Printer
I have a deskjet 5550 and my sister had the printer before me and said that it printed in color for her. I installed a new color ink cartridge and it still won't work. I look through all the printer properties and I still cannot find anything to allow color printing. When I went to the features for the printer under my properties menu it says "Color: No" but I cannot figure out how to change it. It seems like such a simple problem but I cannot figure it out. Thank You.
Hi Jane17 - I had this same problem when I inherited a printer I had used in my office. I called Tech Support and they told me I had to have the installation disk that came with the printer when it was bought in order to get color printing. I was lucky the disk was still in my office and I was able to find it. I reinstalled the printer with that disk and the color properties were enabled with no problem. Perhaps your sister has the original disk for installation? If not, you can go to HP.com and follow the site tools to your printer. You can install online, but it takes some time. I hope this helps you a little if you haven't corrected the problem as yet. Feel free to let me know if this worked for you, and good luck.
