Okay, it sounds like you could very well have something lodged in the pump impeller. You can check the pump and clean the reservoir to see if there actually IS something there, and to see if clearing it will enable the washer to drain. The following link explains how:
Follow these instructions, you may get away without having to order any replacement parts. If you can hear the pump running, there may be a chance that the pump still may be operational. However, if something has been lodged in the impeller for a while, the pump may be damaged to the point where it no longer pumps like it should. The only cure for this is to replace the pump. The next link gives you step-by-step tips on how to do it:
Many of the steps are similar, but I try to be thorough. To answer your question, yes, this can be accomplished by the average do-it-yourselfer. You can find a replacement pump at searspartsdirect.com. Type in your model number as "GHW9100LW0" and the pump can be found under the "Pump and Motor" heading as item number 10 (part #8181684). The pump is sold as a complete assembly. I noticed that the pump is currently listed as being on backorder. It may take a couple of weeks for it to ship. If you need the pump sooner, repairclinic.com also carries it, but charges more for it. If decide to go this option, use the part number provided by Sears.
I'm still a little miffed by your symptoms. Normally, a drainage problem has an error code associated with it. Did the washer flash any codes on the front panel display? If so, you need to provide that information as well. If you require further assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
