SOURCE: tangled bobbin thread

Okay. I had this problem too. try taking the bobbin casing out. I had a bit of thread lintg caught in a remote area of the under-plate area. Blow it out with canned air and oil your machine. That should help. It fixed mine.

SOURCE: Thread looping on bottom of fabric, and bunching up around bobbin

Pull the thread through the tension assembly and test it to make sure the tension is working correctly.
(To do this test, adjust your tension setting to normal or medium or 5 or something in the middle. Raise the presser foot and pull the thread through the tension. It should pull easily!! Lower the presser foot and pull the thread. It should pull noticeably harder.) If it passes this test, continue up through the take up lever, then down through the thread guides to the needle.
If it passes this test you need to remove the bobbin case and check for burrs or rough spots. If you find any ,use an emery stick to remove them and then buff the area with fine steel wool.Put the bobbin case back in ,check your bobbin(change it ) and try again by turning the handwheel slowly and watching to see where thr thread is snagging

SOURCE: Thread catching and bunching up in bobbin latch while sewing

I had the same problem where the thread was getting all bunched up on the underside. I took everything out and followed the manual concerning threading, then manually moved my right wheel to see if it would get bunched up. It took awhile, but I finally got it sew correctly again. I;m still not sure what was wrong with it. I have a singer 7470.

Make sure that there is tension on the thread when you have passed it through the tension unit, by making sure the presser foot is down, and then gently pulling the thread to feel tension. If there is no tension, as seems to be the case, check the tension discs inside the unit to make sure that there is no debris stopping them from closing.

I checked my thread and bobbin watch the video and my machine keep bunches the bottom stitch

Is it really the bobbin thread that is bunching? Generally, thread messes under the fabric are the fault of the top thread, and thread messes on top of the fabric are a bobbin problem.

Top thread bunching under the fabric is called "thread nesting" or "bird nesting" but I prefer to call it thread "barfs." Most often, it occurs because the top thread has not been seated completely in the tension disk.

Install a brand new needle.
Remove the top thread from the machine.
RAISE the presser foot and rethread the top thread.
(Verify the thread path is correct.)
Set the top tension disk at the midway point.

Retest your machine. Tweak the top tension if required.

Bernina 780 sews great, but thread in bobbin keeps messing up while doing embroidery,

Usually, if the thread is messing up under the fabric, it is a top thread issue. This is sometimes referred to as thread nesting or bird nesting.

Make sure you are using a brand new needle of the type specifically for embroidery. The eye needs to be large enough to easily accommodate the thread size and it needs to be a sharp needle. It may help to use a needle with a larger scarf that will protect the upper thread when piercing the fabric. If the thread is not protected sometimes it will hang up on the underside of the fabric when the needle withdraws from the fabric, causing thread loops, etc.

Remove the thread from the machine. ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning. (This releases the tension disk so the thread seats completely.) Verify the thread path is correct.

Use a bobbin thread that is compatible with the embroidery thread. Check that the bobbin thread is smoothly wound on the bobbin, that the bobbin is turning the correct direction in the bobbin case, and the bobbin case tension is threaded properly.

Retest your embroidery on a small project. If you are still seeing thread bunching up under the fabric, you need to tighten the upper tension.

What am I doing wrong when the stitching on top of the material is ok and straight and the backside is knotting?

wrong bobbin tension , but amazingly its actually easier to adjust the top threads tension to compensate for it , use your tension knob to slowly adjust , try an inch , slowly adjust try an inch , and so on to get a top and bottom thread tension to match , this will need to be adjusted for each major change in fabric (aka , knits to woven )

I have a singer prelude sewing machine - the thread started binding from the bobbin up - there were about 50 threads pierced through my test patch.

what you describe is thread bunching and is typical of the needle thread tension being too loose
adjust that right up, run a test sew and go from there

My bobbin isn't sewing correctly

If the bobbin stitches look out of whack, your machine is probably threaded incorrectly. rethread with the presser foot up and see if this fixes the problem.

Cotton is loose/looping under material?

Sounds like bird nesting.
The #1 thing is to install a brand new needle (old, worn, nicked, or bent needles can create a lot of havoc).

Remove all the thread from the machine. RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning verifying that it is threaded correctly. Make sure the bobbin is loaded and threaded in the bobbin case properly.

My bobbin thread continues to bunch up on the back of the fabric.. How can I fix this?

Is it really the bobbin thread that is globbing? Check closely. Usually it is the upper thread accumulating under the fabric.

If it is in fact the bobbin thread, then the bobbin case is not threaded correctly, the bobbin case tension needs adjustment, or it is broken and needs replacement. There are web sites and YouTube videos that show how to adjust the bobbin case tension.

QUICK FIXES: Remove all the thread from the machine. Clean the area around the feed dogs and bobbin area. Oil as instructed in the owner's manual using ONLY fresh, good quality sewing machine oil (only 1-2 drops each spot). Install a brand new needle insuring it is installed correctly. Avoid using fuzzy, old, or bargain bin thread. Rethread: Be sure you raise the presser foot BEFORE threading the upper thread so it will seat properly in the tension disk--and check to make sure you are threading the machine correctly. Check that the upper tension is set properly (the factory standard is usually the halfway point between the high & low number on the selection). Test on a scrap of the fabric you wish to sew. Adjust the upper tension--either tighten to pull the upper thread toward the top of the fabric, or loosen to pull more upper thread down.

Here are some web sites that may help.

Why is the fabric bunching into the bobbin when embroidering with the Singer Futura

bobbin thread is too high pressure or too low pressure on teh top adjustment!

remove bobbin and turn tension screw about 1/8turn left (anticlockwise) check if still grabbing, if so - top thread turn about 1/4 turn (at embroidery ir should do automatically, but sometimes need kick...).

check if it is still grabbing on the bottom, do it grab during straight? zigzag? double zigzag? if do not - setting on the pattern need to be look at. if it tangle as well on these three - need definitely servicing...

follow manual how to adjust.
