Question about Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-27FS100 27" TV

1 Answer

Was distorted picture, now no picture

I'd left the t.v. on the other day accidentally but the cable converter was off.  when i turned the cable on the picture was very skewed with static lines distorting the picture.  even when turning the cable off or using a dvd the picture was unwatchable.  the next day the picture would not show up at all.  the standby light would blink as it was turning on then it would just shut right back off.

Ok,try to resolder or reheat the main board of your tv.from microprocessor, the video chroma section, the crt board...if reheating is not the solution, replace either the microprocessor or the chroma or crt driver.

I have an older Sanyo (approximately 8 years old) and my remote control is damaged (only the buttons/controls on the right side are working, volume turns up but not down, most of the left keys do nothing)....

If you are feeding the signal from your digital converter into the TV antenna input, I would input the converters signal to the TVs video input instead. I am assuming your converter has a video output signal and left & right audio so you will need cables for your audio also. If your converter has only rf output for the TV tuner input it is generally on either channel 3 or 4 and there may be a switch to set this. It is possible that when the TV scanned for channels the converter was off and it did not find a signal on 3 or 4. If you can get the TV to re-scan, be sure the converter is turned on and on an active channel. All your channel selection should be via the converter after that and the TV simply stays on 3 or 4. I would suggest looking in to getting the original remote. Try and see if they have one for your model.

About 30 days ago I started losing the signal for CH 5 in Nashville, TN The strength is in the 80 to 90 range but the picture breaks up and the sound cuts in and out. Have new converter boxes,...

Have a close look at the cables between the converter box and the television set. Perhaps one is damaged by a tight bend or has a damaged connector.

Pictures goes to distorded wavy lines.

This could be attributed to tuning reception of your tv. If your using antenna only, it is most probable. If cable, check your line.

If this is a crt type, moving that tv with that size could somehow bend its circuit board. Loose connection is a probability. Could be some minor component is detached from solder. This can be attributed to tuner and vertical IC.

Just for an input.

Concaved distorted picture in 1080 Mitsubishi 65" TV.

This is a convergence rpoblem that is either bad connections on the pins of the convergence ICs or defective ICs. If you can solder and are comfortable working inside TVs where there are potentially dangerous high voltages, let me know and I'll provide additional details and instructions for fixing this yourself.

Zenith system 3 tv will not turn on

I'd say just get a stereo system (amplifier) or something like that, and hook your cable box, vcr, converter or whatever you have right into that. That's what I've been doing for years. Most cable boxes and satellite boxes will control the main volume that goes to the sound output, or you can get a digital stereo with a remote to control the volume that way.

Green screen with almost horizontal zigzag lines

Is good that you hit it and it reacts, very likely you have loose conections in different places but for the distorted picture you need to check the horizontal driver transformer and flyback after that is corrected you need to check the complete chassis for loose conections.Take your time.Good luck.
