HOW TO SWITCH BETWEEN NUMBERS AND LETTERS

I'm guessing this is on a laptop or mini keyboard? You have managed to turn them number lock on. To be able to use the letters again on the keyboard the number lock feature needs to be turned off. This varies depending on the model of keyboard/laptop. One thing that may help is using the fn (lower left on keyboard) key on laptops (funtion key) and while pressing this tap the Num Lock key, usually at the top right of the keyboard.
difficult to be specific without knowing the exact make/model.

My numeral key are not working[123456789 right side of key bord]

Step 1:
On some laptops it may be difficult to locate and activate the "Num Lock" key. Depending on the laptop, it may be hidden as a function where you have to press two keys. Most of the time, a laptop keyboard is just like a full desktop computer keyboard and it has a "Num Lock" key on it. Most people do not realize the "Num Lock" key is on their laptop keyboard because it barely serves a purpose without a full numeric keypad.

Press the "Num Lock" key on the laptop at the top, right of the keyboard. Press the "Num Lock" key and the "Fn" key simultaneously if the above does not work. Press "Fn" and "F11" simultaneously on the keyboard to activate the "Num Lock" function. Some laptops, like Toshiba, do have a "Num Lock" key. The shortcut for G3 Mac laptops it is "F5," and on G4 Mac laptops it is "F6."

System control buttons not working on Toshiba Satellite a660

You can adjust these settings on the Make the keyboard easier to use page in the Ease of Access Center. 1. Open the Make the keyboard easier to use page by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Ease of Access, clicking Ease of Access Center, and then clicking Make the keyboard easier to use. 2. Select the options that you want to use: • Turn on Mouse Keys. This option sets Mouse Keys to run when you log on to Windows. Instead of using the mouse, you can use the arrow keys on your keyboard or the numeric keypad to move the pointer. • Turn on Sticky Keys. This option sets Sticky Keys to run when you log on to Windows. Instead of having to press three keys at once (such as when you must press the CTRL, ALT, and DELETE keys together to log on to Windows), you can use one key by turning on Sticky Keys and adjusting the settings. This way, you can press a modifier key and have it remain active until another key is pressed. • Turn on Toggle Keys. This option sets Toggle Keys to run when you log on to Windows. Toggle Keys can play an alert each time you press the CAPS LOCK, NUM LOCK, or SCROLL LOCK keys. These alerts can help prevent the frustration of inadvertently pressing a key and not realizing it. • Turn on Filter Keys. This option sets Filter Keys to run when you log on to Windows. You can set Windows to ignore keystrokes that occur in rapid succession, or keystrokes that are held down for several seconds unintentionally. • Underline keyboard shortcuts and access keys. This option makes keyboard access in dialog boxes easier by highlighting access keys for the controls in them. If that does not work you may need to visit the web site of your computer manufacturer to see if they have some specific software installed on your computer that controls key functions.

My caps wont turn off

Try this. Press: Start>Accessories>Accessibility>On Screen keyboard. Try turning it off from there. If that doesn't work:
1. Choose Start'Settings'Control Panel and double-click Regional and Language Options.
2. In the Languages tab, click the Details button.
3. In the Settings tab, you should see a button called Key Settings. It may be grayed out. If it is, click the Add button and add another keyboard layout (it doesn't matter which one). Press OK.
4. Back in the Settings tab, click to make sure your original keyboard is highlighted and press the Key Settings button.
5. Now under To turn off Caps Lock, click the radio button next to Press the Shift key. Click OK.
6. Click OK twice more to exit the other two dialog boxes.

How to lock a keyboard

  1. Press the Windows logo key + U. This will open the ease of access center. Click on the keyboard icon. It will say, "make the keyboard easier to use" next to it. In some versions of Windows you will need to get to the option by pressing the left shift key five times rapidly.
  2. Select "turn on sticky keys" and "turn on filter keys." Select "save." Your computer will now only make sounds when the keyboard is hit.
  3. Follow steps 1 and 2 to unlock your keyboard. Unselect the "sticky keys" and "filter keys" and click on "save."
  4. Lock your workstation. Press Ctrl + Alt + Del. A blue screen or a box will pop up that has a variety of options, such as restart or shut down the computer. Click on "lock this computer."
  5. Lock your workstation using the keyboard. Press the Windows key and the L key at the same time. This will lock the computer. To unlock press the combination again.

My wipro laptop keyboard keys are mixed up.if i press j 1 is displayed.its very difficult to type thrugh gon screen keyboard.plz help me.

You've got num lock on. To verify that, look for a Num Lock LED that is lit, should be near the screen on the keyboard side of the laptop. Often marked [1] or NumLock.
Simple fix, find the num lock key (or combination) and press it. If that doesn't work and the numlock LED is lit no matter what you press then you have a screwed up keyboard.

Your BIOS might be set to do this when the PC turns on. To fix that, look in BIOS setup for an option called "Boot Up NumLock" and turn it off.

Keyboard is locked

You don't mention which operating system - that can make a difference.
I think this is for XP:

How it might have gotten locked:
Pressing Windows key + L or
Holding down SHIFT key > 8 seconds
Press CTRL-ALT-DEL then lock computer or switch user.

To unlock: press CTRL-ALT-DEL & choose unlock. May ask for a password; if you haven't set one try just pressing ENTER.
AND/OR:
Go to start and then settings, then control panel and then finallyaccessibility options. Make sure all the 3 boxes are unchecked.
