Hi gia46,

If we talk about .avi, These media files cannot be played using your DVD player.Your player is not self sufficient to play there complex media files.

Either you need to download certain softwares like VLC players to listen to the same or First convert the .avi files into .wmv or any other compatible format and than you can burn the DVD and play the videos.
If your version of Nero has NeroVision, that should convert an .avi file to a DVD. I used to use it. Another program that does a good job of this would be VSO ConvertXtoDVD.

The procedure would be :-

http://www.howtodothings.com/computers-internet/how-to-convert-avi-to-wmv

The software you need to download would be :-

I hope i have given you the best solution.

Thanks for using Fixya.

What is the brand and model number of your DVD player?

You have to make sure that your DVD player supports AVI. There were some DVD players that does not support .avi. You may need to refer to the user manual and see if that supports AVI.

If yes, make sure that the avi videos were properly burned to the disk. To isolate that, try loading the DVD into different player to see if it's properly burned or not.

Have a great day!

Panasonic dmr-ez49veb wont play dvd-r discs

I would suggest contacting Panasonic support. You can search for their website/home page for their contact numbers. Typically, manufacturers maintain help, support, upgrade, forums and FAQs/knowkedge bases to help customers troubleshoot their appliances/equipment. I have used similar methods, previously, to update/upgrade the firmware on an "obsolete" DVR and it has lasted 4 more years (still working).

How do you copy Youtube videos to DVDs using 123 Copy DVD Gold?

You usually download youtube vids as FLV files, there are plenty of free file conversion programs to change flv to avi or whatever format you want, you can then burn them onto a disc.
I have never used your software, so i am not sure if it handles flv files. If your dvd player will play avi/divx files, you could convert then to avi and burn them as a data disc using ant burning software, i use free software for this. CD burner XP and imgburn.
It sats this about your software..
  • Copy ANY DVD.
  • Burn YouTube videos to DVD.
  • Copy episodic shows like The Sopranos or *** and the City.
  • Autofit technology gives you the best possible quality.
  • Convert ANY DVD to DivX, AVI, Windows Media (WMV), and MPEG.
  • Burn videos downloaded from the internet to DVD.
  • Blu-Rays Upgradeable (Copy Blu-Ray Movies).
  • Copy DVD to Hard Disk.
So your software should be able to burn your dvd, there should be a HELP menu on the software.

If I download a movie from internet how can I put in on Zenith Portable DVD Player ?

That depends upon what format your download is. The player does not import from sources, only output. So, the only way to play it is if you can burn the movie to a disc such as AVI or MPEG.

SAME old! JVC files mod, have converted with prism to avi in the past, with success. Now DVD player says (once) cannot read (next time) not compatible. using DVD-R

Are you talking about a stand alone dvd players?

If you are talking about a stand alone dvd player, that is correct they do not player .avi extension file. I know some portable dvd player can play avi extension files.

all avi extension files needs the right audio and video codec to be player. All stand alone dvd players does not and can not detect codec for you.

On the issues of dvd-r brands, Some stand alone dvd players can only play dvd+r type dvds. ck your brand of dvd disc and players, make sure they are complatible with each other.

I just bought and set up the vhs to dvd program but when i coppied the video onto the disc and tried to play ti in the dvd player it said disc error.i made sure i followed the hook up directions.help!

You have either used a disc that is not compatible with your dvd player, or used the wrong file system for the dvd and/or format, have not finalized the dvd recording.
If you use a dvd-r for recording, the disc has to be finalized, regions use different formats of video(UK=PAL, USA=NTSC)
The easiest way to use your disc would be to convert the video to avi format(xvid divx mp4/3) and burn to a disc as data format.
Download ANY VIDEO CONVERTER FREE,
and ASHAMPOO BURNING STUDIO6 FREE .
Use the converter to change the video to avi, use the studio to burn the video as a data disc, you can get up to 14hours per standard dvd(28 hrs on a dual layer). Put the disc in and it will play as a DivX dvd.

dual xdvd700 is a very picky device in order for you to play videos on a cd-r disc...you need need a burning software that have video burning capacity...don't just burn video as data copy/backup b/c dvd player won't recognize it. hope this help...
So it's base on how you burn your disc...NO data backup/copy ...use Video Burning instead

Sony CD/DVD Player DVP-NS50P not playing my avi files DVD+RW

You need to convert avi files to dvd format before burning, otherwise the player won't recognize them. Google "avi to dvd" and you'll find a number of free or pay programs that will do the conversion for you.

Magnavox MWR-20V6 DVD/VCR recorder fails to record one time but not the next This problem just recently started as the unit was functioning perfectly up to now. And I've kept the unit in excellent condition and free of any dust. What's happening is this. When the timer is set to record a program, the unit will turn on and begin to record. But after about 9-10 seconds of recording, it will fail and you'll see an error message saying you cannot record on this disk. FYI, this happens too when not using the timer and just pressing record. And in both cases, it's been hit or miss, so one time it successfully records no problem and the next time no. So you don't know when and if it's going to happen, which is really frustrating! What's even weirder is that once it failed, you can wait a few seconds and try recording again with possible success. So if it failed at first, it may work the next time, but who knows if it'll work after this. And even if it does work the next time, after that, it's again hit or miss. This recording problem happens even when dubbing. So it doesn't matter if you're copying from VHS to DVD, using the time, or just hitting DVD record, the same recording error happens. And as I said above, it may work the next time but who knows? And even if it worked then, anytime after that is also very hit or miss. Nobody else touches the unit and it's never been moved or banged. So again, I've kept it in very good shape and working order. No problems whatsoever on the VCR side. And I most often use DVD-R discs rather than RWs, but even with RWs, the same problem can happen. Lastly, finalizing has also become more hit or miss now when it used to be very consistent. So I don't even know when or if it'll be successful in finalizing a discs. Most times, it does work, but a couple of times, it hasn't. Lastly, a weird thing with discs that failed to finalize is this. A few of them were finally able to be successfully finalized after just sitting around for about a month of not being able to be finalized. So for whatever reason, a few of those discs that wouldn't repeatedly finalize suddenly worked. The rest of those that were not successful still cannot be finalized. And I've kept all these discs in plastic sleeves or in a disc case.
