If you have the printer plugged in, go to control panel/device manager and locate the yellow exclamation point where a driver is missing. Right click it and choose update driver allow it to search online.

I unpluged the printer, loaded the old drivers, repluged the printer and the system discovered it but I did have to tell it that it ran under a previous version (XP Pro) and then turned it on and it now works!

Hi You know if Ibm 45w1959 have Windows 7 driver

I wasn't aware Windows 7 needed any drivers.

In my experience Windows 7 will load onto any IBM compatible PC. In some cases additional drivers will be needed but that usually won't be apparent until afterwards.

How to update IBM Thinkpad T40?

It\'s a bit old to play with but still a workable computer. Find a local source or the internet and upgrade the memory to 2gb or go for 8gb if you can find them cheap. Turn it over and you\'ll see a cover with "MEM" on it. That\'s where you would replace the memory. The memory in it will give you an idea of type that will work in it. Replace hard drive with as large as you can get (refurbished is fine). Again, you don\'t want to put a lot of money in an older laptop. T40 has 1 screw on under side you remove and the whole drive and carrier will come out. 2 screws on each side of carrier and drive can be switched out and re-inserted into laptop. I would load windows 7 on it. By replacing the hard drive it will be easier to reload new operating system. Just go with Straight Windows 7. Download all drivers from windows. This might take 3-4 hours but the unit will run better with less IBM software running on it. If the network driver doesn\'t work to download updates. Buy a cheap USB wireless adapter to get up and running. After all of the Win 7 updates are installed you should have wireless and Ethernet working. If not you\'ll need to go to IBM/Lenovo site and download Drivers that might be missing. You can download all drivers from IBM but then you get all the stuff that you don\'t need.

Good luck.

Are you allowing Windows 7 to connect to the Internet to download a device-driver? Or, if you run "Windows Update", does it recommend a "hardware" update for the device?

I have a ibm 10/100 etherjet cardbus adapter and am trying to get it up and working on my laptop that is running windows 7. Previously when i was running windows xp it work perfect but since i installed...

Unfortunately, this adapter is 10 years old and Microsoft and IBM have decided that you've used this network adapter for quite long enough and you need to buy a new one.
Microsoft and IBM have not and probably won't provide drivers for Windows 7 for this adapter. I looked at the Lenovo/IBM web site, and the last version of Windows that was supported by IBM was Windows XP. There are no drivers listed for Vista, so I'm very certain that there will be no drivers for Windows 7.
This is what is known as "planned obsolescence"
