No heat but fan keeps running

Recently my LG mini split stopped heating. The inside fan will continue to run, but with no heat. The outside unit comes on for about 3-5 minutes before shutting off, while the inside unit continues to run. There are no error codes on the outside unit board, and I replaced the thermistor over the summer when I was having an issue with cooling. The filters are clean, the outside unit is clean, and there isn't any ice on the unit whatsoever.

If the air conditioner compressor runs all the time the main control board might be defective. The main control board provides the voltage to the fan motor and compressor. These boards are often misdiagnosed. Check all other components to be certain this is the cause of the problem.

The compressor and outdoor fan only run for 3-5 minutes before turning off. Only the inside fan continues to run

SOURCE: I have a 18000btu LG

Hello.I think they are on to something with shortcycling on temp sensor.I think it should be sampling the return air instead of (inside coils ?).A 2*f dead band use to be built in (factory installed) to thermostats to prevent on/off, but not sure in this case.Try a new sensor location(return air) and see if anything changes.

the fan control is not for the fan on the top of your outdoor unit. that is for the blower, you have 2 fans. Im guessing you have a split system, 1 unit inside and 1 outside?? Does the outdoor fan continually run??

Dear Friend!

Due to very low ambient temp, the fan will not run. Once the pressure build up, it's automatically run for some time and again cut off. But if you keep Heat mode and still tem not raised in your room means the reversable valve not working and hence the compressor and out side fan also will not work. Keep "Heat" mode and temp setting +29 to get better heat. Hope is it helpful?

LG Ductless Mini Split System LAN125hv: Heat pump doesn't run.

First check your circuit breaker or fuse that supplies power to the outside unit. It's probably separate from the inside unit. Then try to turn unit on. If the fan and compressor just make a humming sound then turn it off and check the capacitor if you have a multimeter. You can also look at it and see if the top looks expanded. That's a good sign its bad, but not all bad one's look expanded. Tomorrow I will have access to an LG service manual and can let you know what the code means. Sorry I can't get it sooner. Let me know what you find.

I just installed a ductless mini split 12000. when I put power to it the outside unit compresser runs no fan the led read out just blinks very fast the remote does't do any thing

One thing you need to check is Polarity. the 2 wires red and white, need to be on the same terminals inside as they do outside. this is very important.
