SOURCE: Imaging drum LED stays on continuously

When the Imaging Drum LED stays solid on, it means your imaging drum is running low and will soon need to be replaced. You can unseat, then reseat it and see if that solves the problem.

If everything is printing fine, don't do anything until the LED starts flashing. HP will tell you to replace the drum immediately, but mine was on for a year, with moderate printing, before going to the flashing, "empty" state. This is the same advice as for toner cartridges, which are sometimes as much as 50% full when the light comes on.

However, I suggest sourcing a new drum so you can be prepared for when the existing one goes out. Also, despite HP's warnings of gloom and doom, aftermarket products work acceptably.

SOURCE: HP 2550n -rotating the imaging drum backwards?

There is a locking mechanism that actuates when the front door is opened. This is a safety device, and should only be tampered with if you know what you are doing. Also, make sure you unplug the mains power before proceeding.
Having given you air warning, proceed at your own risk...

If you look up near the RHS door hinge there is a slot for the safety interlock. Use a small screwdriver to push the locking lever toward the rear of the device. The Carousel should now rotate by hand
There is a fairly common fault with this model involving this mechanism. It may need the lock and associated mechanism replaced

Be careful and Good Luck...

How do I reset the CE314A HP imaging drum chip?

The chip would need to be replaced. Usually if you have some type of refill kit it would come with a chip. You can usually find them on ebay as well.

Hi, we have the hp color laserjet 2840 series and we are getting a supply error (10.1004). The picture shows that there is a problem with our imaging drum. We bought a brand new imagind drum and it is...

Reseat the toner cartridge. Turn the printer off, and then back on again. You may want to try a new cartridge, but if that does not eliminate the error, call your HP support line. If the imaging-drum light is still blinking but the Attention light is not on, you must replace the imaging drum before the printer can continue printing. The imaging-drum light might be blinking by itself or at the same time another light is on or blinking. If another light is also on or blinking, turn the imaging-drum light off in the simulator and turn the other light on or blinking to isolate the condition. The printer has determined that it cannot read or write to the e-label on the imaging drum.Reseat the imaging drum, and then power cycle the printer. If this does not work, replace the imaging drum. If the imaging drum light is still blinking but the Attention light is not on, turn the printer off, and then back on. If the problem persists, replace the imaging drum E-label reader. The imaging-drum light might be blinking by itself or at the same time another light is on or blinking. If another light is also on or blinking, turn the imaging-drum light off in the simulator and turn the other light on or blinking to isolate the condition.

If Hope that this helps,, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response. Thanks,Joe

How to remove the cause of a black line a HP Laser Jet printer model 4250 has produced down the center of everything printed for a long time? Thorough cleaning has had a very little effect.Last week I...

In cases of print quality issues you should always start with the imaging drum. In this case the toner cartridge. Make sure it is not a re-manufactured or refurbished toner cartridge. A lot of times when someone refurbishes the cartridge they don't replace the imaging drum (the blueish green drum under the shutter). Check for toner stuck or burned on the drum. If there is you need to replace the toner cartridge

If there is no toner stuck or burned on the imaging drum then you more than likely you will need to check or replace the Fuser in the back of the machine. The back door of the machine comes out easily enough and the fuser clips into place. **Be careful it doing to be hot.** Remove the fuser and check the rollers inside for burned toner or damage. If so replace the fuser .

You can purchase a Fuser Kit from HP or find a refurbished fuser from Depot America or OrionMarket.com for a lot less.
