Question about Hoover Fusion Plus Cyclonic Upright Vacuum Vacuum

1 Answer

Hot Smell when I run it

I have a Hoover Fusion Cyclone vacuum that's only about 2 years old. Just this week when I turned it on it started to smell really hot, so I decided to check the belt. It looked fine but there was a ton of junk all around it so I cleaned it out. I thought that solved the problem but after about 2 minutes the smell came back. I'm not sure if it's the motor or what. Any help would be appreciated.

Check to make sure there is no hair on the ends of the axel. Hair will sometimes wrap up around the axel and make it hard to turn. Cut off with razor and place a drop of oil on the ends.

Motor issues

A faint burnt plastic smell is actually normal for these when brand new, but that normally disappears after a week or so. As for sparks, a thin trail of blue sparks trailing along the commutator (the uppermost part of the motor that can be seen rotating) is normal. However, if there are blue, orange sparks flying out of it its toast. The motor is dying in that machine.

The motor has a thermal protection sensor on it. So your motor may be going bad, it is pulling to many amps for some reason, could be a clog somewhere or a bad bearing in the motor.

I've had the Hoover Windtunnel for a couple years now. Its starting to smell when you vacuum. Why and how do I fix it???

I was experiencing the same problem right after changing the belt for the first time, as my Hoover is just a few months old. I am assuming what you are smelling is burnt rubber, like your belt, right? Well, if you have changed your belt recently, make sure you are using the right one. If you're not using Hoover's authentic belts and you're buying it from Wal-Mart, make sure it's the correct one, otherwise it won't work right and/or it will give off a burnt rubber smell. One other thing you could try doing first, is raising the carpet height adjustment up a notch or two. If you have it too low and your beater-bar/brush roll has to work too hard, it will start to smell also.Good luck!

Burning smell coming from vacuum

use a penny to turn the 2 screws on top a quater turn then fold down the vacuum and lift up the cover and you will have access to the belt. Clean the small hepa filter with soapy water. their may be 2 of them. The cannnister filters need to be shaken but not washed. Good luck.

Dc 14 animal emits a terrible smell after about ten minutes of us

You can take a Febreze sheet and put it into the canister/dirt bin where the dirt spins around. It'll spin around whilst you vacuum your house and it'll spread the fragrance through the vacuum and hopefully get rid of the smell for you.

You can also blow out the cyclone with an air compressor or a leaf blower by opening the bin door on the bottom of the dirt bin and blowing up the cyclone in the middle - perhaps there is something lodged up there that is causing the foul odor.

My Hoover bagless vacuum starts to smell like something's burning

What does it smell like? If it smells like burnt anything-it could be that the fan is broken and lodged in the motor. You can see if the fan is good just by looking into it.

Is it a rubber smell or an electrical smell, If it is a rubber type smell then maybe the belt or brushroll has a problem. If is a electrical smell, then would be coming from the motor. How long have you had this? Hoover has a one year warranty, so if it less then a year, take to a shop that does Hoover Warranty. You can call theur 1-800 number and they can tell you where you can take it. The number is on the metal tag where the model number is.

Don't ignore your instincts. If you think it smells like a scorching belt, you're probably right. Check that the pulley the belt is meant to spin is free to turn. If it isn't, find out why and then sort that out. A.
