a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Here is the link to the user manual if you need it; http://www.teac.com.au/file/product_manual_375.pdf Check especially page 64 of the pdf file - see if it sheds any light on the problem. If you get no luck from the info in the book, please ask again - i have the same model and have taken it to bits a few times so i should be able to help :)

Probably a codec problem on the notebook. rather than a drive problem. Try a 3rd party media player such as Real Player or Quicktime

SOURCE: my TEAC CD-224E plays
If your DVD player is set to a DVD region, then it cannot play DVDs from other regions. You are allowed to change the DVD region only four times, then the DVD player will lock permanently on that region.
If your DVD region is locked then you can install a program that will allow you to play DVDs from any region.
Please click on this link for details of a DVD region program :-
